Addicted and do give a fuck.

I'm hyper-sensitive and guilt-ridden as to my addictive behaviors. I haven't not had coffee for years. In college I was a little bummed that on a day when I wouldn't have a cup or two before class I'd be falling asleep during the lecture. Made me realize I had an ever so slight dependence. About a year or so later I actually noticed headaches when I would start off with a Mr. Coffee or Americano.

Pretty much since then I've had a little bit of coffee in my system. Sometimes tea if I'm sick. That Yerba Mate stuff is good too, but I feel like it fucks me up way worse than coffee does. So jittery.

I don't like peeing so much, and the dehydration, and the emergency poops, but I love drinking coffee and sitting at cafes. What can you do? Some people in this world have real problems.

I quit using caffeine and within the first week quality of life has improved a sight. The withdraws are short-lived. If you're considering it, go on and do it finally.

I love coffee though, so still brew it, and instead of drinking, just taste and expectorate it as you would wine at a tasting.

at my age, i can't think of a reason to quit. the "stress" component is helpful in fighting laziness. it helps me drive and talk like a normal person. i can also use it to sit still and read if i want to. it won't dehydrate you if you drink enough water. keep drinking water! (and peeing is good for you. find the nearest bathroom and get to know it.)
there are a million different habits in the world. focus on the most harmful ones. don't start when you're young. educate yourself. then come to terms with your weakness.

Exactly what every good cafe is missing, a vomitorium.
Love coffee, but I seem to crave it differently than the others reporting in. Im addicted to it like I am to potato chips. You put a bag in front of me and I will scarf it down, but dont put it in my pantry, and I wont even think of it. So I willingly bring home coffee, but not the chips, because it seems less terrible somehow. I also live in a place that has awesome coffee. I think drinking a pourover might help those who Wish to cut back. because it introduces the additional effort to make it, and it wont brew a whole pot.

I've always loved coffee even though for years it used to make my acid reflux problems unbearable. Then I had surgery for a hiatal hernia and I no longer have reflux problems.

NOW I FUCKING LOVE COFFEE AND WILL GLADLY BE HOOKED ON IT FOR LIFE.

Daily coffee drinker for 25+ years.

Mostly quit about a month ago. Have decaf 1-2 times weekly.

Surprised that I've had no withdrawal or changes/improvements in mood etc.

I have wondered if, in general, fast caffeine metabolizer experience the same side effects as average/slow metabolizers.

It's probably difficult to know without instances of having quit caffeine entirely, as, at least anecdotally, people become so acclimated to being in a caffeinated state that the keyed-up behavior, irritability etc. are only identifiable in retrospect.

Are you the kind of person who can have a cup before bed without any ill effects?

Drinking coffee eight hours or less before bed messes with my sleep cycle.

i was trying to say don't be coffees dirty little whore it's not worth it in this acid reflux lifetime, there better things to have acid reflux about than daily addictions, you got flux out once a week only or it's constant fire what kinda nutrients can live in that kinda environment no good bacteria can grow in an acid stomach one leafy greens will shrivel up like fall leaves on chicago in the fall c'est balance

Caffeine is a drug, and in excess combined with stress can have explosive results: http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2011-06-2 ... ms/2766144

What caffeine does is increase the responsiveness of the system, which is made yet more powerful by the presence of stress. It creates a situation where people tip further into the spectrum of 'highly stressed', and as a consequence they report these types of clinical phenomena.

But that’s why we drink it! For the good stress, the feeling of power and clarity that comes with energy. If you are an adult you should be able to manage.
