Thurston Moore has a new band, Chelsea Light Moving.
Apparently that tired dildo on legs calls his new genre Burroughs Rock, after William S. Burroughs, of course.

Somehow the blurb reads like someone who has only read rock reviewers for their entire life and is attempting a desperate appeal to them in their indigionious language.

But rock reviewers wear their influences on their sleves,

Chelsea Light Moving = Art Movers (chelsea is the art gallery district in Manhattan - the light movers truck the paintings around).

Going on about Burrows is cool enough, I mean Patty Smith has been doing it for years.

I thought that Thurston might have used this oppertunity to create the Dark Black Metal band he is always gassing about.

Judgeing from the picture the band got a lot younger just out of Amherst College dorms no doubt. Maybe next time on Leno they will not have to use the "Vanety Filter" on the camera to keep the band from looking like pentioners. Thurston usally just combs his hair over his face for this perpose. Lee just allowed his hair to go gracefuly grey, guess he has less hang ups.

They're really trying to rock. This should be awesome, but it stinks. It's not compelling. Sounds like none of them ever wrote anything before, and just discovered Sonic Youth.

Just FYI about the band members: Samara Lubelski was in the band Hall Of Fame, and she has recorded a ton of bands and is very prominent in the experimental music world of NY. She's a really talented musician. John Moloney was in Sunburned Hand Of The Man; I think he is the founding member of that band. I don't know who the other guitarist is.

funny, my first reaction was 'sounds like a 'Psychic Heart' throw away' and I don't like that 'Psychic Hearts' record at all so that means BAD. But later parts made up for that, even though they do sound like they aren't really fitting to each other at times. And that progression which sounds like half-written section of 'Rain on Tin' (which sounds like Television anyway) totally sucks.
