Are there, like, plague rats in Milwaukee or something? Look at this fucking PALACE. $240k

That is about right for that area, if you had looked about 5 years ago it would have been a lot less, I would say about $180,000.

Houses do not get really expensive until they are right on the lake.

The point of a strike is to make shit inconvenient for those relying on labor.Heavy handed tactics are necessary in today's labor movement, especially in Wisconsin.

Well, as a result of the strike, many people will miss work, and tonight will be a drunk driver festival.

I love Milwaukee, always have from the very first time I visited on tour long ago.
Great city, lots of awesome things going on. Very affordable.
Good people.

It reminds me a lot of how Oakland was about 15 years ago, in a good way.

Downsides are the segregation, which is really bad... and the current tool bag of a Governor.

Oh yeah, and if you are the kind of person that is bothered by winter. I guess it isn't the place for you.
I'm actually not.

boy, was I born in the wrong state, huh?

on a very, very short list of places we'd relocate too.

I love Milwaukee.

Every time we visit Milwaukee, we wonder why we don't live in Milwaukee.

I mean, I barely leave the house... Figure in the housing-cost difference, and the fact that it's 90 minutes away from Chicago - I mean, I could take a limo to Chicago a weekend per month, at least, and it would even out. The weather is a draw. The traffic in Chicago is significantly worse.

Koz's Mini Bowl rules! (Thanks FM Stackmatic, for introducing me to the charms of Milwaukee!).

OK.

I was at work during so not that far from my house. I got nothing, I have been in more than a few real tornado's in my day. This was the wimpiest "tornado" I have ever seen, no branches down in the hood, no roof damage, no nothing, it looked cool, but was a bark, no bite.

I love Milwaukee. Better than Chicago in lots of ways. Let me tell you a story about Milwaukee: one time I wanted to go to the art museum. So I drove to it. Then I parked in front of it. On a Saturday. Wait, it gets better: then I drove 5 minutes to one of their great record stores then killed a bowl of pho.

City of 500,000 and I know at least 6 places to get outstanding pho. May not sound like that big of a deal, but when any major "foreign" food group can be successfully and amazingly acquired on a whim within 15 minutes from wherever you are in town - that ain't bad. Acme and Bullseye are each about 5 min. from the art museum; both are among the top-5 record stores I've ever shopped.

I love and miss Milwaukee. And record shopping.

This borders on being a ride share program, or some kind of communal exchange. If the city were to just change it from "stolen cars" to "ride share enrollees" they could probably get grant money from the government.
