Television Program: Lady Dynamite

I'm a huge fan of Maria Bamford and have been looking forward to this show for a while. Has not disappointed in the slightest.

It's fantastic! Not every single bit is funny, but it's all worth absorbing in its bizarre glory. NC!

Love Maria Bamford.
As I've posted elsewhere: seek out the episode of Mental Illness Happy Hour featuring her.

Have watched the first episode so far, lots of wide grinning and laughing out loud.

Very happy she is getting to do her thing.

Completely unhinged. Loved almost every moment.

I like that they've done away with conventional B- and C-plots in favour of the time-shifts.

It's hard to think of a show this chaotic that retains any kind of emotional resonance.

Woke up with the "cradle the balls" song in my head the other day.

Not Crap.

I used to think that Maria Bamford was something of a one-trick pony (the endless fascination with her own family/upbringing in her stand-up got old quick for me), but this show is way interesting. It doesn't always make me laugh, but I'm never the least bit bored--I don't know how LD would hold up to repeat viewings, but I'm glued. All her strengths work together to create a greater whole and the "unhinged" show format makes every minute feel important.

Hard to find shows that draw me in like this. Salut, Bamford!

Just finished watching this. Loved it. The casting was especially great--always nice to see Fred Melamed and Ana Gasteyer.

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is considered one of the sexiest men in Iceland, which I find amusing. It's so weird seeing him in a comedy.

Excited to finally have just got Netflix. More excited to hear this doesn't stink. Huge Maria Bamford fan.

This show makes me pretty happy. Definitely in the actual watching of it, but also just for the fact of it existing, that someone was willing to bankroll a show for someone as weird as Maria Bamford. NC.

Really liking the few episodes I've seen. I saw her on Friday and it was hilarious and weird and great. I'd only heard her stand-up before, never seen it, and I didn't realize how much of a physical element there is to her set.

Have seen episodes one to five now, just watched a couple last night.
Brilliant, hilarious and moving in subtle ways.

I like Maria Bamford a lot, but I couldn't get into this show at all. The pacing wasn't my thing. I gave it three episodes.

Oh well.

Season 2 is up now. I didn't remember Season 1 being quite this weird-for-weirds-sake, but it still delivers overall. Ana Gasteyer kills in this show.

2nd season is not as good as the first one. At least with the first 4 episodes. Ramped up the zany and surreal losing what made it funny before. I do like the future voice.

Second season is just as good as the first if not better. The show is pretty crazy and it's why I love it so much. Also Maria Bamford seems like a really great person, so it makes watching her and her show even better.
