Poll: Best Neil Young Decade that's not the 70's or 90's

Postby J_Temperance on Wed Dec 06, 2017 3:58 pm

Pretty self-explanatory. Not including the 60's because that'd be kinda unfair and it's pretty much part of his 70's stuff guys.

I'd have to go with the 2010's, surprisingly enough. Le Noise and Psychedelic Pill are some of my favorite albums of his.

Greendale sucked 9 dicks all night long, I hated the tour and the lp.
2010's, yup. Angry World was his last good video, too, and Psychedelic Pill was the last lp of his that I bought.

I'm gonna spin that fucker again!

His 80s were pretty damned fascinating, and included some terrific concerts (including the Blue Notes big band project).

I'm a sucker for '80s Neil, regardless of the overall quality of some of those records.
I sing and play bass in a band called Dori.

It’s true that Psychedelic Pill is an important consideration in this poll, but let’s not forget El Dorado.

I was disappointed with Le Noise upon it’s release, but time proved Neil Young right on that one. I just prefer him in a band context, especially when he gets a little violent with his electric guitar playing.

I think I disagree with FM Redline on Greendale, but that was released in a formative period of my life and I have a soft spot for it, though I haven’t heard it in years. On that record he was playing on a different gold top from Old Black, mostly on the neck P-90 with his thumb.
