Yep, they're from Houston, but I think they are based in London now. Seem to be huge everywhere but here.

Great live band. The wigs are dumb.

They crib a lot from Southeast Asian pop from the 60s/70s. The band name reflects this.

Khruangbin is kind of slick for my taste but they are good at what they do.

Seriously, their relaxed vibe does my nut in. Not for me. But I expect it would soothe you while you waited for your takeout curry.

Had never heard of this band until I saw this thread, and had a listen as I've lived in Thailand since 2011. Sounds like a homage / rip off of the local music you hear all over the country in bars, buses, restaurants and on the street. Mixed feelings towards this kind of appropriation and repackaging, but I guess it's to be expected considering how good this style of music can be. Not crap but with plenty of waffles for being wholly unoriginal and a watered down version of the real thing.
