I just caught their tour docu/concert film, "Over the Years and Through the Woods" on Showtime the other night. There is no doubt that these guys are a big-time rock'n'roll band. I don't think anyone sounds quite like them, and they definitely know how to put on a hell of a show.

These queens of stone age are not the crap. I mean to ask crap not crap, but remember to search! Three years ago first it was asked! I don't have the Rated R, but many seem to enjoy!

For favorite, I have Lullabies to Paralyze! Others probably not!

what i've heard ranges from pretty good to ok but there's something about his guitar sound - it's a bit gutless and after a while it just annoys the hell out of me.

I still like 'em (fuck all y'all), even though with each new album, I wonder if that one is going to be the one that makes me lose interest. While I think Era Vulgaris is the weakest one of the bunch, it still had a number of songs I enjoy. I'll at least give whatever album comes out next a spin.

This and Songs for the Deaf are the two records that are emphatically not crap. Other than that they miss a lot of the time. The later ones, so far, I've found kinda boring.

Overall, not crap.

I've said this elsewhere, but it seems basically after Nick left the band Homme's hack-like tendencies ran wild and unchallenged. first three records are killer, though.

I love this band. None of their albums are without flaws and misses, but the good songs are really good, and earn them an easy "not crap" vote from me. Also, I love their guitar sound. It's just.....excellent.

I think Lullabies To Paralyze may be my favorite album as a whole. It actually gets better as it progresses, which is the opposite of most albums out there.

To counter that argument, Nick wasn't around for any of the writing of recording of the first album. That one's practically Josh solo. Also, still my favorite. Closely followed by R and Deaf.

I do wish they'd record the next one desert session style, the last 2 albums felt very over-thought and produced.

Rated R was reissued August 3rd.
2 disc set w/ unreleased music and a Reading Festival live set.

Also, Nick Oliveri has hit bottom.

Makes me regret missing Mondo Generator when they passed through a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember where I read it but supposedly Oliveri and Homme have reconciled their differences and Oliveri will be on the next QOTSA album.

Their s/t debut is something else. Been listening to it a lot this summer.

Alfredo Hernandez has a sledgehammer version of the motorik that leads songs around by the nose.

Their first album has some astounding songs on it. Pretty hit or miss though.

If you are a fan of Yow, QOTSA or EODM, please buy a poster. All proceeds go to Brian's medical fund. Thanks.

Love the band. Josh Homme could've just carried the stoner rock sound he perfected, but he went outside with it. Sometimes, yeah, they get draggy or predictable. Overall? Amazing. Hard rock that doesn't come off as dated or revisiting anything at all. A lot of bands get praised that they branch out and do something different, something unique on each album. For better or worse, Queens of the Stone Age honestly attempt a new . . . something ever album. And its all mainstream?! Oh, too good to be true.

I support this band and proudly declare them Not Crap.

I would love to see that lineup.

This is going to sound like party-pooing but I don't care.

I know the guy who used to drum in this band (EODM and QOTSA). Even though the group has sold a ton of albums and had songs placed everywhere short of the moon he still had to move work a lousy day job between long, money-making tours of the free world. Normally, day job for rock musicians, sure. This band, c'mon. He eventually quit when he realized that the band was a sweatshop.

The fact that these dude don't get health insurance through the band or something is insane. And now there's a benefit for what the owners of the band don't pay for to begin with. I would never run a "band" like this.

Get well soon cool, tall bass dude.
