Hopefully that's not just a one-off date in the States. An outdoor summer festival does not sound like the best environment for their music.

Festivals usually have bands sign radius clauses. Means that a band cannot play the same area (or a certain radius around the festival) for a certain amount of time. It gives value to the performance.

I hate that Chicago has become this festival town.

At least Chicago is big enough that a lot of bands can play a club show in association w/ the festival along w/ the fest. There was no way in hell I'd see a band at Riot Fest but I was happy to see Drive Like Jehu and Hot Snakes at clubs instead!

I keep reading (from the same poster) on the Killing Joke Facebook page that they are not only playing Riot Fest but also playing an as-yet unannounced club show the next night that will end up being televised. Still sounds lame.
