Definite NC. Yeah, there's an LP or two that I don't care for but that's always going to be the case with a band that prolific. I too favour the earlier records and Sound Dust, which I think is probably their best non-neu!-esque album, maybe their best full stop. They were insanely loud live too and still had excellent sound, which really works for the songs, so turn those records up!

Oh, and how terrified do they look on those Jools Holland clips? Great.

Great to see live. A lot of great released recordings. Great background music for when you're entertaining a few guests at home.

In-deed!

In fact, Sadier once said she was pleased to hear some people had played Stereolab at a stripclub, seeing as how it was so often the case that people played the band's CDs while entertaining guests or ironing their clothes.

I'm REALLY, REALLY, REALLY taking a shine to the opening track on their new album, a song called "Neon Beanbag". Anyone else think this is some of the best Stereolab stuff in a good while?

only got Space Age Batchelor Pad Music and saw them once long time ago in TJ's (1992?)

hypnotic drones and marxist lyrical content? sounds like a left-wing conspiracy to me

hurrah!

They can be sometimes a bit boring and pretentious and derivative, but their overall output is allright and when they're not boring they are pretty fun. Also for what I've seen and what I've been told, they're great live.

they also recorded with nurse with wounds which is very not crap for me.

I don't know if they are the same with Mary Hansen dead. I think not.

Overall NOT CRAP, waffle factor 4.

Didn't go but my good friend is the drummer - I can vouch for his and their excellence! He has the best drumming face in the world ever too.

Bah, I missed this tour.

They are excellent live and will force even the most stolid arms across your chest non-dancing indy rock kids to shake their asses.

So many great songs and great records, most definitely not crap!

I haven't bought any of their recent stuff, but I really dig their earlier albums. My favorite is Transient Noise Bursts with Random Announcements, but I also like Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Dots & Loops. Great band to zone out to.

I saw Stereolab tonight in Brussels for the first time in a little while. I lost myself during Lo Boob Oscillator. Wonderful.

Still a great band after almost 20 years.

I may have said this in this thread but I would love to have Stereolab record with Steve, they rock in a live situation and I'd like to hear them rock again on record.
