Pick your favorite supergroup. The winner survives, and goes on to become Sugar or B.A.D.. The loser is erased from history, and from our memory as if by magic!

Edit: I took out "homosexual" when thought twice about the pejorative way I used the word. My apologies to the gays.

I like them both, but I like Husker Du far better.

In the spirit of full-disclosure, I am from Minneapolis.

I've had the pleasure of seeing both at their "peak", and I'll still listen to either one on occasion.

I'd normally rather listen to The Clash, but Bob 'n Grant were cool enough to put out our first album, and were really decent guys to the local punk scene here so I guess they have to win.

In the spirit of full-disclosure, I have never been to Minneapolis. Or London, for that matter.

I can say the same, saw them both at their peak also, but the Clash was at the Aragon, while Husker Du was at O'Banion's, so the experiences aren't really comparable. Husker Du was amazing. Saw them around the time when "Land Speed Record" came out, and many many times after that. Bob and Grant were very cool, used to talk to them at the shows.

I have to go with Husker Du, as they definitely held my interest much longer then the Clash did.

Hey, maybe Marsup is just saying he wanted to fuck Bob and Grant, since they were 2/3 of the group. Is that so wrong?

I'll give this the "new kid at work" situation...

Some new kid starts to work in the kitchen. they put on:

CLASH "London Calling"
-Oh yeah, that album. This kid's alright, I suppose.

HUSKER DU "Zen Arcade"
-Fuck yeah, my friend! This kid's a keeper.
But I digress. Please continue with the squirrel circuit semantic debate.

The Clash is Booooring.

Hüsker helped me survive high school. And they had a very good, "punch you in the face" wall of sound going on when I saw them live in 1987 at the end of their career. When I heard this sound, it was very unique. I hadn't heard other bands playing full major chords with that much thick distortion before. I know they weren't the first, but Mould was an amazing guitarist and animated frontperson who had his shit together. Very intense too.

The Clash is one of the least interesting bands to come out of the UK in the late 1970's IMO.

Hüsker Dü wins.

I have a fondness for certain Clash tunes, but Husker Du had the devastating "Eight Miles High" single, Zen Arcade, and the first n tunes off New Day Rising, so it goes to the Huskers.

you guys all picked husker du. What the fuck is wrong with you? Have you heard their late albums?

Sure the clash have one major turd, but "the huskers" have at the very least, two and a half total shit albums.

This is beyond me. The clash are better in every single way, most importantly, they have very few songs full of boring and trite garbage music and lyrics, and I suppose I admire the fact that they were somewhat responsible for turning many english crackers on to reggae and dub, which I would say leads to one of the best genre/period/handful of bands ever.

The Clash.

Easy,

Husker Du.

Thanks Clash for a whole career that, really, only measured up to one album's worth of good material.

I'd pick Husker Du over almost any other band, but especially The Clash.
