There you go. I vote Mac, but that might be because I like TJL the best of all the great bands involved.

Todd Trainer made me want to play drums. I play drums now.

Washam's work in Rapeman is absolutely outstanding.

This is a thunderdome where you can't lose whomever you pick - all of them are absolutely phenomenal drummers.

My personal choice is Washam - pretty far and away Washam, too, which is no slur on the other guys.

Scratch Acid is probably my favorite band out of all of them, and some Rapeman songs have just totally insane drumming.

I'll let "Monobrow" stand as my vote, particularly 2:54 or so in it.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

In the someday, what's that sound.

Todd.

Both those other guys are great, but I never get the impression Todd is amusing himself. He never ever does stuff just because he can do it. He just rocks.

I have watched him play a lot, and I admire his playing very very much. It is musical, emotional, physical. Basically everything you want out of drumming.

Trainer. Kind of a toss up between the other two because I don't care all that much.

Er. Fuck.

I have to say that Mac has influenced me the most, but Rey brings a hella massive power to the game.

Crap. Todd, also no slouch, but what Tim sees as Mac and Rey entertaining themselves, I see as "setting the bar" for motherfuckers like me.

I'm gonna have to think about this and revisit.

I would say that Washam is the "best" drummer from those listed above, but my vote went to Trainer in a heartbeat.

I remember looking at his snare head with Fessler after the Shellac Hideout residency, and the only part of the head that was worn away was a small circle in the middle.

Washam makes me want to pick up a guitar and play along.

MacNeilly makes me want to pick up drumsticks and play along.

Trainer makes me want to start a band.

So I just looked these three names up, and it's hard to judge because they're all sitting down in almost every picture. There's also a lot of stuff in the way so it's tough to get a good look. The other thing is that in practically every shot they're caught making some strange expression in the face area.

Anyhow, I pick the "Trainer" because he looks like some kind of star. Maybe he doesn't eat, though, which is sort of a slash across the picture of our lives together, but at least he doesn't look like he'd wear shorts all the time.

I like rey, but he is more straight ahead, with furious bursts of speed. The older I get, the less I care a lot about fast fills.

todd is great in the pocket, he is very solid and swingy, but also minimal when the song requires it.

mac drives the songs. he is the main reason the jesus lizard is so great.

Mac.

Have to go with Washam . "No Matter How the Long the Line" is one of my fave albums. Then throw in Scratch Acid and Rapeman. Now thats drumming.

Mac is the one who impresses me the most with his inventiveness and virtuousity. However, Trainer is the one who gives me the most joy through his playing, so I think I'm going to have to vote for him. I just get the feeling that he's absolutely loving every single second of playing drums in a way that very fews other drummers do.

Tough vote.

I vote Washam. Maybe just because he's versatile and represents the spirit of the journeyman musician. Out of the three, I think he's the most vetted.

I really don't think that's a fair assessment of his style.
