Thunderdome: Silkworm Albums

Postby four_oclocker_2 on Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:24 am

Kerble away if it's been done, but I don't think it has.

Personally, I can't vote on one because it seems to change every time I try to decide.

Note - I've included Chokes! though technically an EP, because, well, why not? Didn't include ...his absence is a blessing due to being able to only have 10 poll options.

I hear SKWM more in terms of songs than albums, but if I was forced to make a choice I would go with Lifestyle or Italian Platinum.

I love every single one of their records, but Developer still continues to hit me in a way few other records have. It was also the one Silkworm record that took forever for me to get into, as all the other LPs had just clicked on the first listen. I may come off like a prog sloth for saying this, but it's an LP that almost demands study as there are so many complex things/emotions going on in it. In that manner it reminds me of Beheaded by Bedhead.

Great band. So hard to choose.

Probably Libertine by hair over Developer but I could waffle back and forth on this forever. Just tons of chemistry on these two.

Lots of love for Firewater and In The West too.

Haven't heard the first one or *really* listened past Blueblood though...

For me Firewater would be the definite answer, but every album is brilliant, unique and different. Libertine, Developer and Italian Platinum would be up there as well.

No band that I don't get will ever fascinate me more than this one. I loved the documentary, and I am genuinely looking forward to seeing the most devoted fans ever lose it over this poll.

Warm Springs Night.

No? I wish there was a poll function to alternately strobe Firewater and Italian Platinum. If I had to choose.

I don't want to choose.

It'll Be Cool and Developer...

...Played in unison. They'll end around the same time.

I would genuinely love to see a "What's the second-best Silkworm album" poll.

Firewater isn't just the best Silkworm album, it's one of the best albums ever.

It's tough to choose between the run of Firewater through Italian Platinum, but gun to my head, Firewater.

There's no way I can pick one.

I don't think I'd be able to rank any of them at all.

Developer, Libertine and especially these days, It'll Be Cool tend to rotate out as being the ones I tend to listen to for the first time in a while, and just say "fuck, this is so good", then stay obsessed with it for a few weeks.

If I absolutely had to choose one, though:

Maybe because it's the first one I got, but I really really love It'll Be Cool.

Don't Look Back is one of the best album openers I've heard.

Certainly it is. In every way. But the rest just hasn't clicked for me.
