I bought a copy of Earth 2 a couple days ago, and am enjoying the hell out of it. I've been looking for Pentastar, and will be picking that up as soon as I see a copy in a shop.

Thank you to the Not Crap votes. Thank you also to Earth for posting a couple .mp3s on their website.

Yes.

Good question. If they did, I'd expect a mention on their site somewhere, though I didn't find such a mention.

Another question: does Sunn Amplification still exist as a product-releasing entity? I know Fender bought them, but a search of Fender's US site doesn't mention any current Sunn product.

I don't think they are in production anymore.

Did anyone think the new album wore off after a while?

I thought it was a nice addition to their catalog, I just would've liked to see them branch out a bit. But it's still good, none the less.

About Earth itself, it's one of my favorite bands. Dylan Carlson could slow fart into a tape recorder, and as long as it has reverb on it, it'll be good.

There's something about Pentastar that makes it one my favorite albums. It's like a strung out Steve Reich joined a rock band.

A few years ago, I found a Sunn cab at Trading Musician in Seattle that had "EARTH" spray painted on the back in huge letters.

I'm pretty sure Dylan Carlson sold that. Probably for drugs.

I sorta regret not buying it, as I could now unload on some doom metal stooge for more money than it cost.

Edit: I didn't buy the cab. Wood Goblin caught my error.

i like that one the best, too, and the cover is pretty, how you say, "she is tits?". new one not so much. old stuff, when in the mood.

Do you mean not buying it?

My brother and I attempted to see Earth once around the time of the second or third album, when membership was reduced to just Dylan Carlson, at the Velvet Elvis. We drove down from Bellingham only to find out that he canceled. Some awful hardcore band played in their place. This happened around the time of the nadir of his drug addiction.

I haven't kept up with them, but those first two records are great. I'm a little cool on Pentastar. We used to play the first record constantly, and oddly, it became very popular among several friends of mine who wouldn't otherwise go near music like that.

Also, guest vocals by Kelly Canary! Yeah!

Great, great band.

I love the first two records, but Thrones & Dominions is my favorite. As I understand it, Carlson was basically strung out during this entire recording. Still I think it is incredible record. Earth Mach II is okay. Hex was a nice left turn, I guess. One of the few bands that I would drop everything to see.

Not crap, loads of waffles. They're passable. I once heard a really good song by them on shuffle, and then later kinda listened to every song of theirs trying to find it...and I didn't. And none of the ones I listened to were excellent.
