over-hyped

college drop out was a pretty boring listen.

He's better than Pherell, I'll give 'em that.

Kanye West never appeared on a Brand Nubian album.

I'll be the sole voice of Not Crap. I mean, he's nothing phenomenal, and "Jesus Walks" was pretty lame, you know, 'cause of the Jesus and everything.

But yeah, even though he's really overrated, I think he's fun, and talented, and a good solid Not Crap.

ImissYOU wrote:He's better than Pherell, I'll give 'em that.

I'll disagree with that one too.
Why do you make it so scary to post here.

I actually had somebody make me a mix disc of the best of both of his albums. I really want to give this guy a chance.

I almost listened to it yesterday, but decided that I was more in the mood for Godheadsilo.

I cannot honestly vote on this one. But more than likely I won't like it.

he's pretty half and half, a lot of his songs like spaceship and new workout plan and we don't care and this new good as hell single are really good but for the PRODUCER OF THE FUTURE he sure loves falling back on stupid shit like sped up singers in the background, and plus like half his stuff is songs like jesus walks which are just horrible

hes also an egotistical dickhead

this is kinda an unfair poll

but im voting crap with a pretty high :WF:

Crap. Boring pop rap music bullshit, calling him a 'genius' shows just how horrible a state music's in these days. Basic beats, nothing special. Stupid lyrics.
He's a total fucking asshole on top of it, I had the displeasure of being around him and common (one of the all around dumbest motherfuckers I've ever met) for a few hours one day when they were making common's record and man oh man is this guy a cliche. It's like Spinal Tap with rappers.

To me, it really says something when Jamie Foxx outperforms you on your own recording.

We should probably end this thread right now.

hold up campers.

NC.

i like college dropout a lot. and come on guys, where's your hometown pride? whatever, he's doing good things for chicago hip hop.

still havent heard the new one, but asking jon brion to produce your stuff? what regular rapper does that? granted he pulled a handful of the brion tracks off cuz they were too corny (white sounding).

im actually suprised at the amount of hating. overrated? quite possibly, actually probably. but crap? no. i don't think so.

and come on, bashing a rapper for being egotistical and arrogant is like making fun of an indie rocker with touseled hair and tight jeans.

Musically, he does nothing for me.

I will say something nice...his first album cover was the most un-rap cover
i've ever seen come off a major. It was also a hit.

i'll toss in another not crap vote. it's a complex opinion i have though. i think as all things hip hop are considered BY THE MEDIA, i think he is going to be a majour driving force. i think his new record is really different from anyting else being put out and supported right now.

honestly, if you give the new record a chance and digest it, the thing feels like an album. in the classic sense that we all talk about albums, and the album concept. i honestly have never heard a hip hop album that is as cohesive as "late registration." it just has an ebb and flow from humourous to serious and back again... i like it.

my frame of reference for hip hop is nowhere near as large as for rock music, but i still think that this record is one of those ones we'll hear about 20 years from now on some vh1 special.

i should make a new post in the real forum, and ask people to recommend good hip hop. this would be a good opportunity...
