gotta respect it.

I've been watching a decent amount of Clips games this year because they're my "local" team (living in Las Vegas) and I'm not a Lakers fan. Baron has become a good supporter for Amber Mamba.

Glad to see all the love for former Oakland ballers in this thread.

After Sunday I'll start paying attention.

Love isn't an all star and neither is Monta Ellis; shitty teams don't have all stars.

I try to watch the OK games when they're on, because Durant is death on two legs, the best performer on TV.

My dad took me to UCLA games as an infant in the Wooden years and I was hooked on the NBA when Jabbar came to the Lakers. In typical entitled LA fashion, I do not consider the 2009 and 2010 titles sufficient and am currently displeased with us losing big games at home.

I like this guy quite a bit. Just when they started labeling him a dunk machine (which he is) he showed a little bit of special stuff too. I never was rooting for the Clips but I am now. That nut case of a Donald Sterling has finally gathered a nice team with actual role players that can play their roles.

And they have a fucking coach.

I'm a Bulls season ticket holder - the current team is really fun to watch. They've beaten some of the big boys - Celtics / Lakers / Miami / Orlando - granted Celtics were without KG and Miami was Lebron-less. I think we're still a player away from winning it all - but I have no doubt in my mind that if healthy we'd take any of the current contenders to 7 games.

Hell, I've been going to Cavs games since they played at Richfield Coliseum...they bulldozed that place over a decade ago, and the Cavs stopped playing there five years before that happened.

See, the thing I have going for me is that I'm a fan of Cleveland sports, so my threshold for bad sports is pretty high. Our sports teams here have an incredible knack for being either embarrassingly bad or good enough to just slip and fall away while trying to reach the cusp of greatness. I was at games in the 2007 ALDS and ALCS, as well as games in the 2009 NBA playoffs when the Cavs rattled off eight straight wins before getting bounced by Orlando. I remember coming home after the Browns beat the 49ers in week 17 for their 10th win of the 2007 season only to watch the Colts throw their Sunday Night game, thus denying the Browns a spot in the postseason. Yes, my sports skin is pretty thick at this point!

I didn't pay much attention to the NBA for many years before I moved to Milwaukee in '93. I worked at a restaurant for about two years across the street from the Bradley Center. My time there coincided with the Vin Baker/Ray Allen/Glenn Robinson era, and I would often get incredible seats for cheap from the scalpers when I got off work around halftime. Since then I have remained true to the Bucks, inasmuch as when there's a Bucks game on I will watch, and I follow their progress through the season. Only ever watch good playoff matchups and the Finals otherwise. Don't care about the Blazers.

it's looking like Ray Allen is going to surpass Reggie Miller on on Thursday night as the most prolific three-point shooter of all time. I couldn't be happier for him. Gotta be one of the NBA's classiest, hardest working guys.

also: I love the fact that the Spurs play All I Do Is Win after every home win. So epic.

Just kind of reading through the news and came across this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=6055329

I dig DR and all, and maybe I'm unique, but I am suspicious often of positive news in sports. This part of the article throws me:

Three young fans are walking alone after leaving the United Center. They're the last to go, so they're all alone. A white SUV pulls up next to them. This part of Chicago could use a shave and a clean shirt, so somebody rolling up on you isn't usually happy news. The young men try not to look. The window comes down and who is behind it but Derrick Rose himself, The Heir to Air.

Their mouths fall unhinged.

"Hey, man, just want to thank you guys for taking time to come out," Rose says. "Really appreciate it."

Their voice boxes go mute.

"And thanks for wearin' my jersey, too!" Rose says to one of them.

I mean that's fine and all, but I I can't help to see that they're framing this one type of behavior up on the mantle, and it's sort of gross, and I object. Could you imagine really? If I were an athlete at that level the whole passive/aggressive/vicarious trickle down jersey deal would scare the sh*t out of me. I'd be in the back seat headphones on w/ my head way down, and apparently, I would be a lesser person for it. Bullocks I tell you....

My bizarre loyalty to the NBA's worst team this season paid off last night as I got to watch the Cavs beat the Lakers nearly wire-to-wire. Hell of a great game to be at...the Cavs really needed that win.

Just watched the Bulls beat the Spurs at the United Center. Derek Rose had a career high 42 points. It these guys can stay healthy, they're going to be a tough out in the playoffs.

It's All-Star Saturday Night people. Ray or Paul in the 3pt comp? Is Big Blake gonna win the dunk contest?

The All Time Fantasy draft was hilarious though. Chuck always make me laugh.

I'm watching that Shooting Stars thing. I'm sure making a shot from half court is hard but if anyone can do it shouldn't the best players in the world be able to in fewer than 20 tries? I have no idea what the point of this is. To showcase WNBA players?

Blake Griffin is winning the Slam Dunk Contest no matter what - even if they have to fix it somehow to make sure he wins. He's the next NBA superstar and he can't lose to some nobody. I heard a rumor Griffin will drive his Maybach onto the court. The sunroof will open and a secret celebrity accomplice will emerge and lob Griffin the ball as he jumps over his car to dunk. If this is true, it's really fucking stupid. I'm hoping he preserves his dignity and just does the sick athletic dunks he's more than capable of.
