One of my favorite bands ever, NOT CRAP, zero waffles. Welcome to the board, rick!

My girlfriend and I seriously want to get to that show next month, if it can be feasible.

I've heard bits and pieces here and there and have loved everything I was shown. I need to hunt down some of their records.

Rick, in the game of Crap or Not Crap something is either Crap or Not Crap, but if it isn't purely one or the other, waffles are in order.

So, Kenny Loggins is Crap, no waffles, and Feedtime is Not Crap, no waffles.

But someone like David Bowie is Not Crap, with waffles, since he released a lousy drum 'n' bass record and other less than stellar material that pales in comparison to albums like Heroes and Hunky Dory.

Salut!

the vox on "nobody's fault but mine", also.
and the guitars on "baby baby"

christ what a great album. i'm going to put it on RIGHT NOW.

the vox on nobodys fault was such a special attitude of the people there at the time...a pickup roller choir so to say...sean casey (he looked after the internal musical integrity of f from time to time) and dave boyne (from the missing links)

they went good

you don't have those in OZ? What about flapjacks?

Ace mentioned to me before that she got some cool live X stuff from you, right on. If the San Fran gig is a success, will you play some more? How about one of these prf bbq things?

Are there any Australians on these forums who can explain why that band resonated so strongly in your land? Besides the obvious (they were one of the greatest rock bands ever)?
What about Iggy in particular seems to touch such a nerve with your people? I've always wondered.

my take on this:

1/ feedtime were not big stooge/iggy fans. i saw the band lots & they never played any stooges covers ever. in fact when they were asked to do a track for that comp they didn't even know any stooges songs & had to learn 'ann' off a borrowed lp. they asked the people putting it out which track nobody else wanted to do thats why they chose to do 'ann'.

2/ the main purveyors of stooge/iggy mythology in aus were the 'radio birdman' crew. or "the local chapter of the hitler youth" as chris bailey from the 'the saints' once refered to their followers. those bands did stooges covers & talked about them in interviews etc. there were a lot of 'birdman' copycat bands in the 80's. these detroit worshippers got a lot of credo at the time, but most of that stuff doesn't stand the test of time. unlike the far less popular bands at the time like 'feedtime'

3/ australia has a small population (even smaller back then) the loud mouth 'detroit bands' talked themselves & their influences up way beyond any real popularity in the wider music loving population thusly distorting outsiders perception of their importance here.

4/ iggy's only breakthrough in aus was with the 'new values' lp when the 'i'm bored' & 5'1" singles which got some mainstream radio airplay. mainly off the back of a legendary iggy performance on a sunday night prime time 'pop' music t.v. show. when he appeared completely off his head on coke or something & went ape shit while miming to 'i'm bored' in front of a live audience of teen age girls. people who'd never heard of him before were talking about it the next day. scandalous!
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4zQpFSYCJ0

p.s 'radio birdman' & a couple of the aus 'detroit' bands are pretty good, but nowhere as original as 'feedtime' 'saints' 'fungus brains' venom p stinger' 'x' or a bunch of other more little bands that were around at that time.
