I have never understood why some people take pride in not listening to Sabotage. What gives?

From hearing that, I dont really feel the need to listen past the fifth. Even the fifth was a low point for me compared to the previous ones.

somethings just missing for me with that one. My favorite part of sabbath has always been the doomy bits, which that song sorely misses.

This song RULES!... totally awesome... love the synths.

Technical Ecstasy sucks... barely listenable.

Sabotage... is prolly their crowning achievement. I have a soft-spot for both the 1st and SBS... but Sabotage is king.

One of my favorite Sabbath songs. The whole album is great. I'm not sure how someone could like the first 5 albums and not like Sabotage.

Sabotage is a motherfucker of an album. "Hole In The Sky?" "Symptom Of The Universe?" Ain't nobody frontin' on those shits.

Never Say Die has a couple of jams.

Technical Ecstacy is mega-nasty. It is dog shit.

Have to agree with JGP.

Never Say Die is okay. Title track is a good song. Technical Ecstacy is poor but still much better than anything that came post-Mob Rules. However, both albums compare very, very badly to the first five or six albums.

The worst Sabbath of this era is still not that bad in the grand scheme of music. If it's Iommi, Butler and Ward playing together around this time - how bad can it be? It's not Coldplay or Crazy Town. It's Sabbath.

Sure. Again, I'd swap in "post-'Born Again'", but we're on about the same page there.
Nobody's listening to 'Eternal Idol' (or whatever shit came after that) for fun.

You know what's actually fucked up? Forget for a minute if it's a "heaviness contest" or whatever - but I could actually hum you a Coldplay or a Crazy Town song, because (God help me here) there was at least some (*some*!) songcraft there, somewhere.

Even if it "rocks harder", there is literally no fucking songmanship on Technical Ecstasy.

I own a copy, don't get me wrong, and about once a year I take it out, listen once, shake my head, put it back away, and then a week later I can't remember one bit of it!

That is really bad rock music.

Yeah, I think there's something to that simply because although I own these records, they've never even made it onto my iPod. I doubt I will ever actually listen to them by choice ever again. They're there, they're not very good.

However, they're not the worst Sabbath albums. A poll on the post-Mob Rules albums would probably be hilarious. I might download them for a laugh one day and try to listen to them.
