I choked up and shed some tears I tried to hold back like the pussy I am when Brown hoisted the Stanley Cup.

Just watched an excellent Arena documentary about Joe Meek from '91. Near the end, there's an interview with his two brothers. I don't know if it was the part when one said "He should've come home and had a rest", or when he lists his favourite Meek recording, but I just burst into tears and have been holding them back for a good five minutes.

A couple of weeks ago when I was reading comments that Marsupialized, BadCommrade and Kerble were making on Binny's Facebook page about a Pauly D event.

Over a real life event, when my grandmother died back in May. Over something else, at the end of the film Take this Waltz.

Like enframed: Real life: A kid I tutored for a couple years died this Spring, after seemingly being okay, and then quickly succumbing. Her brother, who has Asperger's, delivered a eulogy that destroyed me. His pain, and the pain he felt publicly trying to understand and articulate his pain, was stunning. But left me a mess. But did his sis a solid.

Something else: In "Moonrise Kingdom," when Sam and Suzy are seen (in masks, in silhouette, from below by Capt. Sharp) and then pull their heads out of view and all's we see is a darkening stormy sky and a steeple and nothingness. Nothingness.

A little bit on Saturday, when I read about Jason Noble. It surprised me-- I never even met the guy...

I did this too.

Previous to that, I had cried on Friday.

I'm doing a lot of crying lately. But it's more from relief than anything else. I think I'm so used to being angry, stressed, and upset that my body can't figure out why I'm not crying. So it sends the "CRY YOU STUPID BITCH" signals and BOOM there I go.

Hopefully this will end soon, because it's a little bizarre to be talking to someone about a pleasant subject and start tearing up.
I make this music.

My grandma died a few years back. She had like stage 4 cancer of the stomach. All of the sudden. We all went down to visit, the whole god damned giant German Catholic family, to be with my grandmother as she died in her big, grand living room over the course of a week. I had to leave early, about two days before she went. I cried like a fucking baby in the car. That was the last time I truly cried. All out. Looking back, and in a way I hate to say this, but it was a beautiful thing in some sad way, my grandmother's death. All those people, in that house that was so old and important to them, cooking and playing catch and going through old photos and hugging each other. She was a fucking champ on her death bed. Cracking jokes and shit. The morphine certainly helped.

I get choked up easily. During the Mars rover landing. When I'm bike camping in the California hills and and I'm above the clouds and the sun is setting and shit is just too beautiful to comprehend. During great moments of sport victory. Very, very, rarely actually cry though.

I still can't say the name of my friend who shot himself eight months ago today without choking up. Or refer to anything around that time without needing to pause and swallow hard so I don't lose it. I lost it pretty hard this week.

I keep thinking there might be a point in time when I can remember my friend and it will be easy.

It's been a while. I can't remember the last time. I rarely seem to cry over things going on in my own life, and thankfully nothing awful has happened to anyone close to me recently, to my knowledge anyway. Usually it takes a good movie to get the tears flowing, but I haven't been watching loads of movies lately. When the Sikh temple shooting occurred, I was really upset, for a number of reasons, but instead of staying glued to the news that night I went to bed as soon as possible and slept that awful feeling off. I still feel really crummy whenever I think about it, but the shock is gone, for the most part.
