No idea where that information comes from. We play on Sunday July 1 at 12:45pm.

One thing that I've kicked around is booking a tour of this acoustic version of the band in nursing homes, like in Wisconsin and North Dakota. Call ourselves The Dandy Charmers or Young Veterans or Flying Aces or something like that. I bet those nursing homes have good little budgets for "entertainment programming" that they normally fuck away on bingo callers or chair aerobics instructors. Instead, we roll in and give these old timers a little dose of rock on their way out.

Not really kidding.

We'd be the last live music that many folks would see before they check out. Probably jaunty it up with some music from these old folks' era (WWII at this point?). Man, to get some lonely old soul whose busy family has caged in a fucking death kennel up and dancing and smiling one last time, to get that two-handed, I-wish-you-didn't-have-to-leave handshake of real appreciation from a pair of those smooth, cool old people hands, that would be doing God's work. Also, taking money from a nursing home, fuck those places, like they're spending it on anything besides keeping oxygen levels barely at a habitability standard and mopheads.

While it's not exactly being there -

The rest of the show should be on the right.

Anyone who wishes to do so may join us on this nursing home tour. Accordian/banjo/piano/fiddle multi-instrumentalists encouraged.

Probably not what you meant, but still.

The Book Burners are playing early Sunday Afternoon, July 1st. Will you post a link to what you are talking about on Bandcamp so it can be corrected?

Jonah, it looks like Bandcamp pulls show information from some third party source -- and it looks like it uses the first date of the BBQ as the date for anyone playing it. For example, see the Light Coma and Fake Limbs Bandcamp pages, which also list June 28.

I've looked it up and the third party show information source is Songkick.com.

Hey Ryan, I'm thinking a Transmontane/Book-Burners double bill for this nursing home tour.

Yeah, there's no correcting those Bandcamp show listings unless you have a Songkick account. I just assume they're always wrong.

That would be awesome! You might consider having me play after you guys, because there is a good chance I would send half the audience into the light during my set. What key is that flat-line sound in?

I know that here in Illinois, I read about a middle school orchestra playing holiday music at nursing homes/assisted living facilities in the Danville area. I've read other stories about gospel groups doing something similar.

Re: The Book-Burners: "Snow White" EP

Postby Bradley R. Weissenberger on Wed Jun 27, 2012 2:09 pm

Here is the official release of the "Snow White" EP by The Book-Burners.

This is the first of three EPs that The Book-Burners will release in the upcoming days in celebration of PRF BBQ 2012. In addition to "Snow White", we will release the "Christianity" EP on Friday. Over the weekend, we will release an alternative version of "A Tournament Of Lies" and take a moment to reflect upon that record's two-week anniversary.

See you in Chicago on Sunday, carnivores.

"Call To Arms (Be The Perimeter)" is perfect. Jason's bass playing is minimal and sublime. I am absolutely loving this song.

I used to be acquainted with a musician named Chris Leone, who had a band called the Lipsey Mountain String Band in SF. Chris Leone's brother Dom wrote the song "Drivin' on 9" that the Breeders covered. Anyway, Chris Leone's band used to do West Coast nursing home tours.

There is some discussion of these nursing home tours here.

Here is the official release of the "Christianity" EP by The Book-Burners.

This is the second of three EPs that we will release in celebration of PRF BBQ 2012. The first release (the "Snow White" EP) is also available through the Bandcamp page linked above.

To answer your question, yes, we've accepted the fact that we're going to Hell.
