Pile & Converge at St. Vitus. Top 10 show of all time for me. Both bands insanely on.

Pile and Bad History Month Saturday at Market Hotel was also excellent. I missed Pile opening for Hot Snakes in Philly last month, that would certainly have been my best show ever.

Trail of Dead, Explosions In The Sky, Liars @ Empty Bottle, I think early 2002. Right as Trail of Dead was blowing up, right before EITS and Liars blew up. Don't give a shit what you think of those bands, this show ruled and the timing was perfect to see all of them, at a small venue.

Also pretty much every Shellac show has the best supporting act(s).

Sonic Youth/The Amps/Bikini Kill in '95.

Blew my little 14-year-old dome back.

I'll probably get some haters for this one: 5ive Style, Sea and Cake, and Tortoise, Mabels, C/U, Spring 1996 - what's Billy Dolan up to these days? All bands were fantastic.

Mission of Burma and the Pixies in fall of 2004 at UMass Lowell, blown away, exceeded my expectations going in.

Bardo Pond, June of '44, Chavez, Blind Pig, C/U, summer '94. Seems great on paper, but I can't remember much about this one.

Skin Graft Records put on some of my favorite shows ever — killer rock, absurdist fun, and bunches of interesting people happy, drunk, and in character. I fondly recall seeing Dazzling Killmen, Brise-Glace, Denison/Kimball Trio, and Mount Shasta at the Khyber Pass in Philly, and I will never forget the Oops(!) Indoors two-nighter at Lounge Ax with Melt-Banana (whose set made my neck hair stand on end), Flying Luttenbachers, Lake of Dracula, U.S. Maple and many others. I seem to remember someone dressed in a Danzig costume at the door and also getting my fortune read with C3PO. Also will never forget a later Oops(!) show in Cleveland where a beekeeper and penguin worked the door and I got to dress up as the Karate Chimp for one song.

I swear on my record collection that I'm not saying this to be a taint... This is honestly the ONLY show that comes to mind that EVERY band was fucking amazing.

July, 2014 house noise show in Philly (and I HATE house noise shows): Hive Mind, Redrot, Shredded Nerve, Scant, Pleasure Island and Ventriloquist.

Still to this day my girlfriend and I talk about how all the bands were excellent.

I got a couple of short videos of it up here.

Fun to think back on some of the better nights back in the day.

Not sure of the year, probably 2000/2001, but at the 4040 in philadelphia, i saw:

Tear It Up
Born Dead Icons
Orchid
From Ashes Rise

Not sure how that came together, sort of a strange lineup for orchid to find themselves on, but things were just generally more radical back then

For real. I was stoked to have played multiple shows with them around their tour. Some of the best U.S. harsh noise and P.E. on that bill.

remembered this one the other day.
Tara Jane Oneil and her girlfriend performing a soundscape at a coffee shop, followed by Daniel Higgs reading poetry and playing Jews Harp improvisations. I drank green tea, and smoked cigarettes with Higgs.
