what cable is used to wire the racks?

Postby barrett on Sun Jun 04, 2006 5:57 pm

I opened a studio a few years ago and was in a rush to get it up and running so i just bought a bunch of cables at guitar center to wire my racks. Now, I'm older, smarter, cheaper and more aware of the cleanlyness of the signal path. I want to build my own cables and i'm pretty sure that canare is the way to go based on what i've read. But I'm curious, they have two different models. Like do I want the L-4E6AT or the L-4E5AT? Is the narrow 22 guage necissary? How is it done there at Electrical? Do you guys even use canare?

thanks

The narrow guage is generally the answer to having a shitload of wires run through your walls - you literally run out of space. I've used Canare, and had fine results, but I've also read quite a bit in the last few months on the ProSoundWeb forums that Gotham is the only way to go these days. Either way, let us know how everythig sounds when you're done.
