I absolutely love the undertones. Fergul's <sp?> voice can be taxing if taken in multiple album quantities, but definitely Not Crap.

I agree. I love the Undertones. I even like some of the Feargal Sharkey solo stuff.

And for those who havent seen it, Shellshock Rock has some fantastic footage of the Undertones in their prime. It's a great film. Search it out.

Not crap. Total Irish greats and one of the best punk bands ever. I'm still not sick of "Teenage Kicks" despite hearing it badly played by every cover band I have ever seen, ever.

It is June so I start thinking about Here Comes the Summer, as a result I spent the weekend listening to The Undertones and then again on my way into work this morning. They are one of the bands that I'm not sure I would like if they came along now but were awesome when I was 12. Because of this I always listen to them with a kind of a guilty pleasure born out of nostalgia.

Not Crap.

These guys were the first Punk Rock band I ever saw, opening for The Clash.
I got right in front, being from the age of mostly arena rock shows, their action of loading their own gear onto the stage and setting it up in an arena setting seemed very cool to me. They started out and really blew me away. Also I was half-drunk and yelling at Feargal and he answered me so I thought they were the coolest. And they were.

That first album is a rock and roll classic I think. And they were so great live, at least back then.

If I wrote songs as good as Teenage Kicks, Wednesday Week or Julie Ocean I'd be a happy guy.

The bit about Sharkey smoking cigarettes to look more intense when they were signing their contract made it for me.
