How do you decide what daily or flat amount to charge when working at a different studio?
When & why has it been appropriate for you to negotiate a daily or flat rate significantly higher than your posted rate? If Bush had recorded Razorblade Suitcase at Electrical Audio would they have paid your same posted daily rates instead of a larger flat fee?
I'm asking because I'm an engineer in Philadelphia who's starting to get requests to work at other studios around the north east. I've been keeping a set daily rate but have some requests for flat rates. I'm trying to develop consistent, affordable rates so artists know all costs well ahead of time and I expect you've already decided on an appropriate set of rules.
