Wall box 24 XLR sutio help

Postby melvins111 on Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:22 am

Hello everyone,
I am french
I am looking for a 24 XLR wall box to install in the studio. With multipaires.
I do not know much but I am looking for a good quality with a budget of 300 euros max.

Advise you to mount it yourself or take it whole?

Thank you for your answers

Canford aren't the cheapest, but then again, considering the effort of installing and soldering up a wall-box, it's a trivial cost to use the proper parts (do not want plastic sockets, crimped connectors, spending hours hunting for faults/buzzes/interference etc... not worth it).

You might want 32 holes rather than 24 so you could also add a couple of TRS jack monitor/headphone sends, and a couple of XLR returns.

Would highly recommend at least one ethernet network socket, possibly even HDMI/VGA/USB, or even fiber optic (for ADAT or similar) or DIN (for MIDI).

Same price for 32x holes as 24x.

Can just block up any surplus with blanking plates, and save them for later.

Other types that might be useful to have on the wall:

Speakon (for running a speaker cabinet with the amp head in the control room, or a talkback / monitor speaker) http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/22728 ... -connector

At your budget I'd probably be looking to buy the materials and build it myself, or buy used if possible. The materials aren't that expensive (depending on how long of a run the multi pair needs to be) but it's fairly labor intensive, which is what you'll be paying for.
