The place is called Terrace Bay Inn, it's halfway between Escanaba and Gladstone, MI.
To book a room, call the following number and tell them you wanna book for the PRF winter event in February. You need a credit card to hold the room, but final payment can be split up when you're there.

(906) 786-7554

http://www.terracebay.com/

Pricing below.

Gear sharing thread:
http://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61216

Here's the pricing details:

All rooms have 2 king beds. No more than 4 people per room (srsly, no cheating- little kids may be an exception if your family is big. they have cots.). Once you figure out who's gonna be in your room pick one person to make the reservation and figure out the money split amongst yourselves- details on making reservations soon to come.

Price is per person for 3 nights stay including continental breakfast and big dinner buffet every day (we'll make sure there's vegetarian options) and gratuity.

2 people in a room: $165 per person
3 people in a room: $127 p.p.
4 people in a room: $112 p.p.

maybe someone can start a room share thread to coordinate....

There's a pool, hot tub, sauna, game room.

nice.

Logistically, we could rent a uhaul in chicago, load up the pa and the communal gear, everyone who needs any specific gear could drop it off at the uhaul- all car space could then be used for getting bodies up there.

I might be wrong, but this sounds like something Maple Stave would be into, especially given the possibility of only being able to do PRF-related events for a while.

I'm all for the venue, but isn't this the type of place that can get like 10 feet of snow in the winter?

In the years I've been coming up here thei snow has been comparable to Chicago. I think the north side of the UP is the part that gets slammed- up around Houghton. Here it's all interstate until around the last 30 miles.

There is no way I will be able to get the Heavy Bombers to do this, but I'd go. Perhaps there is another band with whom I could play (?).
Prime numbers and tonal clusters with Radiant Republic.

Bass in the Heavy Bombers We're on the PRF Singles Comp Q1.

Sax with Begin By Gathering Supplies.

Terrible News.

One of my old band played a one-nighter in Marquette (our bassist's brother lived there and knew a guy that ran a bar), and while the hike up and back was a pain in the ass, the gig was a blast and the people were all cool. It's beautiful in the UP, too. I think this is a splendid idea and I would almost certainly attend.

I'd play there too, possibly. I'd hope for a bit of a local draw though because realistically, few but the band people will make the trek up for this.

I'd imagine we could make it a free show for the locals. On our end we'd basically be paying for the rooms and food and maybe a rental fee for the ballroom, maybe not. Buy drinks from the bar (hopefully their distributor can get better stuff than the bud light everyone drinks out here). Troy's from here and worked at the place growing up. He knows the whole town. There's even a little dive 'downtown' where we could do the quenchers night on the first day!

Yep, Houghton north to Copper Harbor is where the most ridiculous accumulation falls, though it's also much heavier than Chicago near the Wisconsin border (Iron Mountain, Ironwood).

Bell's and Great Lakes Brewing Company were about as easy to get as Bud when I lived in Houghton 8-9 years ago. I imagine that shouldn't be a problem. Is this place close to Marquette or the bridge?

What's the fireworks/life-threatening bonfire capacity around there? That would swing it.

Yeah, there's absolutely no reason why HiFi wouldn't do this. I love the Upper Peninsula. We could take a trip to see the Paulding Light! Stock up on authentic pasties!

We totally don't need to rock it in the winter, either, BTW...Autumn in the UP is just lovely.
