In one of my first posts on this thread I wrote something about how it always seemed like the Band was straining for authenticity. I think I was referring to their presentation (both music and how they looked) as salt-of-the-earth deep Americana guys from another era when in reality they were mostly all from Canada. Something dumb like that.

Ultimately, they had Levon Helm in the band, and authenticity doesn't matter anyway. Too bad they burned out so fast.

I have only a superficial grasp of their history, but I've gathered that having Robertson being such a focus is bound to be problematic.

This trailer made me cringe. I just cant stand Robbie. I will watch it for the cool looking archival footage though. I love The Band though I wish that I had not peeled back the layers on this band. Levon's book This Wheels on Fire was good, but it broke my heart a bit.
