NOT CRAP. I've been listening to them a lot lately, so I'm happy to see this thread reappear!

Both iterations of this band rule. Adam Ant solo also rules.

He's touring now, playing Friend or Foe in its entirety, with other songs. Am contemplating driving to Kansas City for the show in May, but I'm not sure how his live show is now. Have never seen him before, I like about a dozen songs by him/them.

Anyone seen him live recently?
- "Whatever happened to that album?"
- "I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall, and it like, shattered."

Early stuff, Not Crap, Marco was in Rema Rema for Pete's sake.

He also played Les Paul Jr's through Marshal amps, so that counts for something.

Marco is great and I like those albums and Adam's first solo one a lot, but Matthew Ashman is god-tier level guitarist. Wild shit that was always catchy and inviting, at least up until the end of Bow Wow Wow.

Also the earliest band is great in a spunky punk way - "Deutscher Girls" RULES.

Easy not crap, Adam was a babe too.
Kerouacian as fuck.

I like the tough, rhythmic vibe on stuff like kings antmusic and dog eat dog, still holds up today IMO.

I like some of the singles, or at least what I assume were their singles... Beat my Guest, Ant Music, etc. I've never been able to listen to a full album so I guess WF there, but the highs are high enough for a not crap from me.

There’s something going on circa Kings of the Wild Frontier – conceptually and sonically, they were one of the first bands to reuse glam-rock tropes after punk… the theatrical imagery, huge stompy drums… a big influence on the first wave of goth bands, though nobody will admit it now.

Prince Charming & Friend or Foe are mildly interesting proto-MTV novelty suck.

Feel exactly the same way about Bow Wow Wow, where there’s a gem of an idea you can pick out on a few tracks, (appropriating the Burundi beat for a novel sound, cool twangy guitar) but it’s ultimately in the service of cheesy dross.

Crap. (WF3)
