I just read about this at another forum.

One of the guys there said he's not dead. That article has nothing to do with Varg. The man who was shot in the car was a Somalian who previously had beat Vikernes, it doesn't say when.

I ran it the article through Google translate. It was a pretty rough translation but it looks like Varg is fine. Pretty misleading headline, it reads "Investigated after having beaten Varg Vikernes", and that's about it.

It says that there was a murder in Oslo a few days ago, and that the suspect was charged for punching Varg Vikernes in prison a few years back. Just another lame excuse for the Norwegia media to write about Vikernes.

hehe- the count looks like weird al with a straightening iron.

i mean the "modern" weird al without the glasses/stache combo.

Also, that actor guy looks like he won the role on "black metal idol." the role of simon is played by the ghost of Dead, who is really kind of a music snob.

Oh man, I do not want my 13 year old niece asking me to burn her some Burzum CD's.

Can we stop this? Is it too late?

Wouldnt it be funny if, somehow, this led to a better world? Out with fall out boy, in with that guy from silencer who has pig feet sewed to his arms.

As a norwegian being around when black metal was all the rage and everyone playing in at least 5 of them (and having at least 1 7" out on some obscure german label), I'm a bit tired of all the Varg talk. Really early Burzum had some good qualities to it, but I ultimately prefer Darkthrone in every way, even their later shit. To be honest, though, some of my friends who played in BM bands made better music than all of the bigger names, especially before they could "nail" the OSBM sound and were still trying to find their identity soundwise. Oh and his synth albums were hilariously bad, like General MIDI soundtracks to terrible D&D PC games.

As a person/lord of the pit I think he's far less interesting than what people have hyped him up to seem, I recently read an interview that he did when he was released from prison a few months ago, and he's pretty undeserving of all the myth surrounding him. Even according to himself. The kids really bought into it all, though, and lots of people would walk around with Burzum longsleeves to signify their disdain for comformity.

Yeah, I'm in the Minority amongst my BM loving friends, but the last 3 Darkthrone albums are KILLER!

Varg is due for a return to recorded output very shortly.

I'm glad to see that prison has rehabilitated him and made him a nice, normal chap:
Read in a Brian Sewell voice wrote:However, rather than abandon my own music, only because others have soiled its name by claiming to have something in common with it, I will stick to it. The 'black metallers' will probably continue to 'get loaded,' 'get high,' and in all other manners too behave like the stereotypical Negro; they will probably continue to get foreign tribal tattoos, dress, walk, talk, look and act like homosexuals, and so forth.

I'm betting this new album (trans "The White God") will be a tick-ridden bag of socks.

I think the more pressing question is:

What the fuck do you have to do to stay in jail in Norway?

I think he means for life. And I believe it's impossible, 21 years is the maximum sentence for anything there.

I finally listened to Filosofem last year and concur that it's pretty mindblowing; then I never listened to it again. There is lots of mindblowing music for me to listen to without having to constantly be reminded of what an awful and terrible human being the artist is.

Fuck Burzum and fuck the rationalizations for supporting him.
