Especially if they break up. Of course, there are a lot of exceptions to this.

Wow, I knew the two frontwomen batted for the Blue Team but I didn't know they had been a couple. I can see how many rifts could form. One is into motherhood, the other seems to be a bachelorette rocker. Fun on the road in front of your ex, etc.

What's up with Janet? She needs to get in a band of people who were never involved. One band fronted by exes, another with her ex-husband. Glutton for punishment, no?
C'mon to Chapel Hill and form a band with me Jan-Jan!

My band did a gig once with the SK, a goodly while back. Janet let me borrow her drum set. SK soundchecked first, then us. Janet took her cymbals off her stands, and I put mine on. By some quirk of drumming fate, we both were using on the same stand identical Zildjian A Projection Crash cymbals. Janet said to me: "Ooh, you too huh?" in such a lissom, honeyish, older-lady way as she left the stage, I came over all a flutter.

I hope she finds a good band to play in. I doubt she'll be short of offers.

As mentioned previously. I do enjoy that band!

This time with a bass player though, eh Janet?

Nice to hear she's cool, Johnny. I had my suspicions.

I don't think I like this band. I've never made it through an entire album.

The singing is irritating. People I know that are ultra-annoying like them.

I'm going to give an uninformed, gut reaction CRAP vote.

If you think I am wrong, tell me something to listen to. I'll give em another chance.

I just got two tickets for their last show in Portland, but with the amount these are starting to go for on Ebay, its very tempting to sell at least one of them.

I don't have a big problem with the shaky voice thing, I just find this band bland. Kerble just reminded me.

Okay, so the shaky voice does bother me.

I appreciate that they're going for it like Caillou, but when you go that balls to the wall route, you're bound to divide opinion sharply.

Bump!

EDIT: How did I misspell "Caillou"?

I don't have anything against them, but I've never cared for their music.

Prior to finding a decent drummer, S-K sounds shrill and a little inept.

After finding a decent drummer, S-K sounds only a little shrill but way too indie rockin' and dull for my tastes.

I sorta respect this band but I do not enjoy its music. And thus, I must vote Crap.

I hated Dig Me Out, and it still strikes me as overhyped, adolescent dreck. But they got less pretentious and more interesting over time, and I think their final couple records aren't bad. Not great, but not crap either.

I love S-K and hate myself for never seeing them live. I missed them so many times telling myself, "I'll go see XYZ instead. S-K is always touring, I'll catch them next time."

I swear Homer Simpson's Mr. T. story is like the story of my fucking life when it comes to missing awesome bands. I only regret missing a few shows to see other bands though so it is what it is.

Anyone who can sit through that voice has ears of steel.
"Feminist" band whose lyrics sound a lot like high schoolers making drama for themselves.
The music ain't nothing to shout about either. Noooooo thanks.

Saw them twice before The Woods came out, didn't think much of them, actually found them annoying.

Fast forward a few years, got hooked on The Woods and burned through their back catalogue and gave them another chance live. Loved em. Up until seeing Kyle Spence, I've never been more blown away by a drummer.

Considered selling one album and eventually got rid of all three. My fickle love has expired. Shriek shrill and treble. I still keep sympathy for Sleater-Kinney. Let other people spin records and enjoy the music.

Not crap. Saw them live a few times and the last time Carrie did a guitar solo (as in, on her own without the rest of the band) which was some kind of Haino type shit, but without the tedious pretension, just the full on excitement and joy of making a racket with a guitar, it was great. She had the black threads and SG for it too. Would like to hear a full album of stuff like that but I can't see it happening, sadly.
Don't shun it. Fun it.

I'm a huge fan. One of my favorite bands and consistently strong records.

If you find the vocals shrill or warbly maybe you just don't like a female vocals. Turns out that's what happens with a female voice when they're sincere, passionate and making a point. Look it up, yo.

...or maybe you just prefer dudes.

You know what, I find 'vocals' argument against Sleater-Kinney odd. The peculiar passionate warble is one of the key traits that attracted me to S-K in the first place. Ok, different strokes for ... I get off on vocals very much in general. In case of S-K I just realized I was not giving them love back anymore = spin their records on a regular basis. So I passed them on to an acquaintance, he will take care better than me. Amicable split, but I admit I did feel like an asshole traitor afterwards. Cool rock chicks. Best of luck to them in new adventures.
