CRAP.

He's a gullible fucking buffoon who gives right-wing assholes a platform. Fuck this dude.

I wish he hadn't endorsed Sanders. He's a liability.

Rogan is crap in his own right but his support for Bernie is probably a good thing.

Even after Trump's election, centrists can't get their heads around how much people hate the political establishment. HRC hating on Bernie is a gift to his campaign, and on the flip-side so is Rogan's endorsement of him. Yeah, it's not a good look for the "Bernie Bro" narrative but that line of attack seems to be running out of gas (after all, Warren's recent attempt to smear Bernie as a sexist completely failed).

Rogan seems like the exact type of dumb guy that Andrew Yang attracts. I wouldn't be surprised if he posts another video saying he changed his mind and is a Yang guy now.

I don't think a Joe Rogan endorsement makes any real difference one way or the other but I find the idea that people are genuinely worked up about it deeply dubious. Clinton's whole campaign was about winning over moderate republicans and independents, and so is Biden's. (Also, remember when CLINTON bragged about being pals with fucking Kissinger?) Nobody bats an eye when Jennifer Rubin praises Amy Klobucher. In fairness that may be become they're both irrelevant. Going back to 2008, Democrats were EXCITED when Obama got Colin Powell's endorsement.

This does seem inevitable

Would listen to an Underculture episode w Bernie bow hunting w Biden. Or Nugent. Or anyone.

Btw, Rogan only learned that Bernie is Jewish this week. Apparently he had no idea. A real keen observer of the human condition, this guy. Must be the Alpha Brain supplements he takes. That's literally the name of one of the supplements he peddles on every podcast.

I just saw a brief clip of Rogan saying that, even though all the Democratic presidential candidates have asked him to have them on his show, he only wanted to have "my friends, Bernie and Tulsi" (for some reason he neglected to mention Yang, who he has had on).

I checked: over the past 100 episodes of his podcast, he's had a grand total of seven episodes featuring women. Seven. One of those guests was Bari Weiss, of the "warmongering New York Times." Another was Roseanne Barr. And we both know why Tulsi made the cut.

It says a lot about the state of the world that Warren has to ask to appear on the podcast. The fact that she's not one of his "friends" is a point in her favor. I wouldn't want a misogynist huckster like that as a friend either.

Fuck him. He's crap. Zero waffles.

I would guess less than 7 women have been in the barrage since 2019 (though tbf none of Joe’s guests were as cool as Julianna Hatfield.) doesn’t make anyone a woman hater.
But I get the point. Homogeneity kills content.

Criticism of Rogan's transphobia and bigotry is very valid but so much of it is bad faith criticism from people who wouldn't have said jack shit if Rogan had say backed Hillary in 2016. This guy's organization has endorsed a bunch of Republicans and seems to always favor rightwing Democrats over anyone to their left, including Andrew Cuomo over Cynthia Nixon. They've been heavily criticized for being dominated by white men and have been criticized for being weak on trans rights.

I learned all that just from visiting their wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Rig ... troversies

Deploying real, deadly bigotry in such a cynical, bad faith way does no one any favors. It's shameful in itself.

On January 19, 2016, the Human Rights Campaign's 32-person Board of Directors voted to endorse Hillary Clinton for president.[79] This resulted in considerable controversy,[80][81][82] causing thousands of users on HRC's Facebook page to post comments critical of the decision.[83] Many cited HRC's own "congressional scorecard" (which records a 100% rating for her rival for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders, while Clinton herself only scores 89%[84]) as inconsistent with their endorsement.[83] Additional scrutiny was also placed upon the connections Clinton herself has to the organization when it was revealed that HRC's President, Chad Griffin, had previously been employed by Clinton's husband, former US President Bill Clinton.[85]

That'll do.

And yes, just in case it wasn't already clear knowledge that HRC are no strangers to their own shithousery.

If you're serious about mass politics, that means bringing new people into your coalition. Nothing changes without that. In this case, Sanders is doing it on his terms -- Rogan is signing up for Sanders's political project, not the other way around.

Having someone with an enormous audience (an audience that is rightfully skeptical about the political process) say "yeah, I'm with this whole socialist thing" is unambiguously "a good thing." It only seems questionable because it's been so very, very long that we've seen a genuine mass political movement in this country that, today, many people still think the goal of "the Left" is to build a purified subculture. They have a knee-jerk response to people who they wouldn't want to "get a beer with" wanting to join up with them. Imagine if that's how the labor movement had conducted itself over the last century.

It's pretty sad, to be honest.

This was the Sanders teams' official comment on the Rogan endorsement.

I like this statement, but would also agree with those who criticized them for making a campaign video featuring Rogan.

An excellent point. Being a purist in one's personal life, in whatever matters one deems important, is all well and good. But "the world out there" is full of all kinds of people, many of whom might more or less be on one's side, in a broad sense, even if many disagreements would arise in more rarified fields of interest. If we want a mass movement, as Bernie does, we can't afford to get too picky about whom we deem worthy of joining us. So that means not turning away, I dunno...juggalos and juggalettes, or Bon Iver fans, or Joe Rogan podcast enthusiasts or whatever--any "mostly okay" contingent of people who we probably share "bigger picture" values with.

The left will shoot itself in the foot again if it hones in too much on small differences this election cycle. When undecided or centrist voters get a strong enough whiff of that they often respond with, "To hell with these people," and vote for the other candidate instead.
