great band. better than isis and pelican, as good as cult of luna, not as good as neurosis but none of those bands are.
I composed and produced the album California is Cold by Shahmen. Our song Poison has a video.

Yep, Prehistoricisms kicks ass. Danny's a good drummer, too.

since they signed with century media, they have received a fair amount of press so i noticed and read a few interviews last year about prehistoricisms. haven't heard it yet, i only ever heard void which was a great album. really looking forward to checking this new one out.

I'm listening to a stream of their new album ("Valley Of Smoke") right now and I can't decide how I feel about it. I kind of almost think I'd prefer them without a vocalist. And less double kick. Each song has some good parts and then some not so good parts. They confuse me.

Not crap.

Also was one of the first bands I saw at a small bar upon moving to California. Good show.

falling ever further away from the great thing they had going around the perhistoricisms era.

i mean this outright sucks.

i SERIOUSLY hope uphill battle releases a new record this year.

Not sure if UB will release their album this year but I can confirm that they have been recording new material.

And hopefully Adi wont sound like a muppet being strangled on this one!
Theyre 'working' on it but schedules are all fucked up.
Danny lives like an hour and a half away from everyone now, and on top of Intronaut/Murder Construct/Phobia/every other band hes whored out too, Adi's got his doom band Sutratma with my old drummer theyre doing too.

i love adi's vocals. absolutely some of my favorite vocals.

anyway, i don't doubt that danny prioritizes projects in accordance with, like, levels of fan interest/viability. dude's gotta pay the bills, after all.

uphill battle was beyond overlooked in their time, so i have to imagine it's not topping his list of records to get out.

i really hope they toss us a bone with maybe just one rough cut or something..

Listening to the newest. These guys are interesting and have some really neat ideas. They're all fine players. Drums are tits. Two points against:

I totally get wanting to sing, and get away from the tired, grating vocal approach. I think though, we should be honest with ourselves. Most of us aren't very good lead singers and as such... maybe we shouldn't be the lead singer.

When these guys go into quiet mode, they sound almost identical to Isis, which feels weirdly about 10 years too late. Dude even flips his snare off.

I like them for being unique. I want to like them more than I can.

Saw them open for kylesa and mastodon awhile back at the metro. They were better than both NC. I've only heard Prehistoricisms and it's great.

New album is superb.
So much going on - every song feels like a mini album.
