i'll see your Stevie Wonder and raise you Curtis Mayfield.

My mom loves Sinead O'Connor, and her two favorite rock songs of all time are "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "My Sharona."

Ma Goo's cave has been nicked, all right.

There's been enough bad seed deposited in there to choke a rain forest.

Her favorite Bad Seeds record certainly isn't Kicking Against the Pricks, that's for sure.

My mom thought Jimi Hendrix was the guy that invented the Muppets. I'm willing to bet she has never heard of Nick Cave...

I spent a summer listening to Henry's Dream. I enjoyed it very much. And then I sort of tired of the schtick (if you will) and the histrionics. Same thing happened to me with Tom Waits. My friends don't understand, accuse me of listening to 'heroin music'.

If things progress like this, in five years I will only listen to minimalist chamber music, the really slow Low songs, and Renaissance polyphony numbers like The Tears of St. Peter. Maybe some Steely Dan for good measure.

I need help.

My mom is a very short, very bubbly woman. She can, on many occassions, be seen dancing around the house in a sweatsuit, singing Warren Ellis' violin part from "15 Feet of Pure White Snow." She refers to it as "[her] snow song." My mom is wonderful.

This made me grin! I hope that she "raises her hands unto the sky" as she does this. Top stuff.

It's a good thing to have a cool mom.

Then again, my mother liked the "Berlin" album by Lou Reed when I played it, when I was young. I'm 100% sure she didn't pick up on the lyrical content.
