You know, one Peavey I'm curious about...the Blues Classic 1x15" combo.

If anyone happens across one, let me know?

A bandmate of mine had a Peavey Century (not Centurion) that he used for guitar sometimes. I hated it. Didn't break up pleasantly, hardly broke up at all. It must have needed repairs or something, since it's the only silver-knob Peavey I can think of that's outright sucked.

Hey Tim, I just got one of these (see my post and photo on the previous page) at Music Go Round for $400. It has an upgraded Eminence Big Ben 15" speaker in it. I had been looking for a smaller master volume equipped tube amp for playing at home. This isn't what I'd describe as small (50 watts, 1x15, and same size cabinet as a Fender 4x10 Deville), but it does sound really good at whisper levels as well as cranked. I detected a Vox AC30 sort of flavor on the Lead channel. The clean channel did the sparkly Fender thing well enough for me, with spring reverb to boot. Really cool amp. I'm looking forward to getting it out of layaway and putting it through the paces. I didn't realize how rare they were until I did a little research. They were only made in 1993 and 1994.

Rumour has it that Peavey has gone under. Either way, they're having a massive UK auction on Tuesday:

Ha, missed that.

Excellent, good to know. They do seem hard to come by. I'll keep an eye out....Thanks!

A guy I used to be in a band with had one of these. Sounded like the guitar on "Stay With Me" by the Faces. Great amp.

I just bought a Classic VT, hybrid ss/tube, for $125 on CL. It sounds pretty damn good. I cant actually imagine getting a better amp for $125. 50 watts, loud, breaks up kinda nice. IT HAS A BUILT IN PHASER! You can barely buy 2 6l6's and a phaser pedal for $125! Pretty excited about it.

Now, we are an all lightning bolt logo band!

I have one of these, it cost me all of £80. Insanely cheap for a USA built amp. I have played another model like mine that sounded better, but it's alright. The phaser is unbelievable on these things.

is that the one where you can pull the phase knob and it stays in that frequency? pretty useless function really but I always thought that was cool as hell

Nope, mine doesn't have that. Heather has needed a louder amp for a while and she also has been rocking a phaser pretty solidly so it's pretty great for her.

Kind of regret selling my Mark IV bass head, but at the time the Acoustic seemed a lot better. Wish I kept the Peavey as back up. Oh well.

I had a Delta Blues, which I guess is in the family, and it was really great. Regret selling it. Sounded better than the Chinese Vox by a mile. Playing live with it in a loud-ass band, I felt like I was just over-ragging the shit out of it and that it would have had a short life. With a Telecaster it sounded pretty close to a Matchless Spitfire.

Tonight's episode of Undercover Boss features Peavey.

Just FYI.

And man, Hartley Peavey and his step-son, COO Courtland Gray, sure went out of their way to make themselves look like assholes. Seriously, watch the episode, you'll probably want to throw your Bandit in the river after watching it.

Undercover Boss even felt the need to issue a statement about the episode.

I have had nothing but shit gear from everything Peavey in the last ten years, where as the 40-year old Peavey Deuce I have still runs 100% flawlessly. Same thing w/ all the other old Peavey gear I have.

Fuck this whole company now. I read a transcript/synopsis of the epsiode which just firms up what I already believed about them. That Sweetwater interview w/ Hartley was also horrible. I'd rather set my money in a pile and burn it then give them a dollar.
