Saw Bill on the Manchester part of his UK tour. Really cool initimate show, and he absolutely slayed. Spoke to him afterwards and he was the nicest guy, total dude. The 7's are great as well. Emphatically NC.

edit: well, it seems Mimaroglu has the last two tour 7"s up now (even though by the time he got to Chicago he sold out of them) so maybe he'll come through on more.

sick cover though.

Mimaroglu had all three originally (the third one is A King Or Something), now they don't. I should have bought them all during the weekend instead of waiting to see if i had money to spare after the fact.

The last time I checked, Forced Exposure had all three singles for sale. Better act quick though as the site states that copies are limited.

Volcanic Tongue have the three 7 inches available as a set at the moment, probably not for long though.

If any Chicagoans still need those three tour 7"s Reckless B'way has 'em.

How The Thing Sings is really, really fucking good. Was happy to pick that up while in Chicago.

His records really are something special.

Nicely written piece on a great artist. Thanks skoz.

I missed out on Harry Pussy first time round, and Orcutt has been one of the great discoveries for me from this last couple of years. Way Down South and How the Thing Sings were both in my 2010/2011 top tens.
Here's hoping I get to catch him live.

Does anybody know what this Studio We thing is? Amazon says it's a solo cd but it's not. It's also not on Wikipedia's Harry Pussy discography list. cduniverse.com has the wrong cover art but says "Bill Orcutt's first solo release sounds a lot like Harry Pussy's later work, which isn't a bad thing at all. The guitarist does, however, take a slight turn for the abstract, laying out a collection of brutal tracks that range from thrashy guitar musings to full-on white-noise blowouts. ~ Nitsuh Abebe

Personnel: Bill Orcutt (guitar); Adris Hoyos (vocals); Eric "Vietnam" Sadler (guitar); Joe Cohen (alto saxophone)."

Whatever it is, most of it or the whole thing is on Grooveshark and sounds great. It's here. Cheap on amazon too.

The "untitled" solo CD is a collection of improvised stuff that doesn't fit neatly with what HP were doing at the time, though one of the tracks was also released as the Harry Pussy side of the Hp/Bunny Brains blue vinyl split 7" (on brutarian I think.) I consider it required listening for any Harry Pussy fan. I have a real soft spot for te track Live 71.

Edit: Don't get this if you only like Bills acoustic records.
