another observation:

doin' it right is a classic example of a daft punk earworm (see: harder... around the world et al). all the constituent qualities are in place.

and then the guy from blink 182 starts singing.

A friend referenced lyrics to the song "Get Lucky" on FB earlier. I had no clue this was a Daft Punk until I googled it. I'm only familiar with the Tron soundtrack, which I've since forgotten. Can't vote. Not interested enough to explore further.

This new single totally reminds me of growing up in South Georgia with a mother who threw parties with her friends from the Urban League and a father who had friends who taught college.

They used to play Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, The Spinners, Earth Wind and Fire records until well after I'd fall asleep. Marijuana and champagne and lots of people relaxing until all hours.

I don't know how I feel about Daft Punk, but I do know how I feel about the feeling this song gives me: Not crap.

Wow. Someone managed to "out-Steely Dan" Steely Dan!

The tunes are like an energy drink. Sure, I'll drink it and it'll make me "feel good" but it'll fade until I drink another one and aren't there a jillion sorts of energy drinks now? Why is this one different than the others?

Doesn't really matter........

Good kid music though!

I'm pretty sure I have at least five or ten unplayed records around the house that were made in the actual seventies which will scratch this particular itch, should I ever get it. No, thanks.

Lady across the way started scream-singing the latest Daft Punk single at 3 AM last night while stoned out of her gourd. FOR AN HOUR.

I woke up at 9 AM today; 2 hours after I like to be up on a BAD day.

Fuck this song.

Awful, it's just crappy 80s stuff with some electronic beeping occasionally. I really don't understand the appeal.

While I don't mind Homework, this new album is one of the most atrocious, overrated things I've ever had the displeasure of listening to. Shockingly bad. The "collaborators" thing is disgusting, as is the pretentious blabber about "bringing life back to music" utilizing techniques that are frequently used by musicians like it's some fucking revolutionary act. Shit, you recorded some of this stuff to tape? You're using LIVE INSTRUMENTS? Crap.

Yeah, I read that pitchfork interview with them. For supposed innovators, they didn't have one interesting thing to say.

The interesting thing about that interview was the really goddamn nice webdesign.

I've decided that the new album is no good. Sorry Daft Punk. I was reserving judgment until I heard it at a party or such, but then I realized their old shit would make you want to dance over headphones.

I've listened to it once but so far 'Get Lucky' is the only thing that's striking me in the least. I imagine anybody who has a place in their heart for AM Gold stuff would get a kick out of the rest of the record but that was never a part of my life so I'm cold on it.

The new album's finally given me the confidence to give these guys a CRAP vote in spite of how great their Tron soundtrack is. Unfortunately, it isn't able to eclipse all of their other sucky records.

Still haven't heard the album properly and still have no real interest in doing so, however Daft Punk have deconstructed their own album and (probably) made it all the more interesting for it:

Daftside is Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington.

There is a 10 minute DF remix of Get Lucky but it's not very interesting.

My bad! It appears I've been misinformed. Still, it's quite fun even though I don't know what their reference points are bar 'Get Lucky'.
