I can dig it. It's just that nearly every single migraine-inducing, psychotic song on this record is entrenched in some sort of groove or traditional rock structure that the noise-freak-out-ender just leaves me sorta meh. Would much rather have it bouncing me off the walls peeling skin from my face.

You don't have to tell me twice. I love 16D, and not just the first record.

When they're bad they're terrible, when they're good they are spectacular.

Their good stuff more than makes up for the less-than-stellar stuff they've done. Solid NC.

Not crap. Looks like I'm the one guy who believes "Icing" was the icing on the cake. At times it sounds as though it's playing at the wrong speed, at times like it's playing backwards & often like it's playing underwater.

Still enjoy this guy, but the version of Heroin Man I have can be a fairly fatiguing listen. Is the LP any "better" (before I eventually spend too much $$$ on this thing) or no?

NC.

The LP is the same as the CD as far as I know.

Bizarrely, I listened to about 3/4 of Heroin Man today.

No, but nothing I've heard indicates the tracklisting is any different.

How can he know if it matches your nebulous term, better how?

it probably sounds the same, but you know, warm and punchier.

How so? I have a pirate/burned/second rate flac copy. There is a fair amount grating distortion; upper mids or whatever. Was giving me a headache. "Is this inherit to the recording or did I get what I payed for?" was my question. Hard copies routinely sound better than freebie copies. The track listing has nothing to do with it.

Didn't mean to be so short.

(and thx Richard.)

Yeah. It's the recording. It was made to sound nasty, but in my opinion the nastiness works better on vinyl. ...If your flac files sound like there's something wrong with them, then that's about right.

OK, now I can repost here:

There's a Cherubs tribute CD coming out next year [on a tiny label called Unfortunate Miracle] and they're looking for bands to contribute... 11 songs so far on the CD have been claimed. Pink City is considering doing "Baby Huey." Wondering if any other noisy PRF groups would be into this. ... Just thought I would throw this out there - it might be a lot of fun.

The songs that are taken already are:

1. Carjack Fairy
2. Quitter
3. Venus Flytrap
4. Zip Up Boots
5. Pixie Stix
6. Blackhouse
7. Stag Party
8. Playdough
9. Pink Party Dessert
10. Mr. Goy
11. Big Groovy

You can get in touch with the people who are doing this tribute CD thing on the Cherubs facebook fan page.

From the Cherubs Facebook fan page.

Cherubs have signed a contractual recording agreement with New York City, USA label Brutal Panda/Relapse records and will be releasing a new vinyl only commercial musical product in 2014. All prior recording product is being re-released via digital media product immediately. Three dimensional reissue product will follow. Creation and Engagement of New Material has commenced and is engaging and brutal. That is all.
