Netflix Animated Sitcom: BoJack Horseman

Postby eliya on Fri Sep 05, 2014 11:08 am

New show on Netflix (made by Netflix), starring Will Arnett with Allison Brie, Aaron Paul, Paul F Thompkins, Amy Sedaris, and Patton Oswalt.

The first episode isn't that great, second is a little slow also, but I've been laughing my ass off after that. Go watch it!

It takes a little bit to get going, but I've been enjoying it so far.

It's pretty funny, and when it's not it's cynical in a Party Down kind of way. My favorite character is the Olberman whale. NC!

Really? Two episodes in and I thought it SUCKED. Maybe I'll give it another go on a day I'm stuck indoors.

Read the OP, it starts a little slowly.

In that case I'll have to give it another chance. I really like a lot of people involved with this show's work normally so I was pretty disappointed when it didn't come off very well for the first couple of episodes.

It really gets better. It plateaus in humor halfway through the season and then the character development takes over, touching on some real pathos.

The first episode was really rough for me to get through. Like "Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie" rough. It started to pick up after that.

Man the tripping balls sequence (almost the whole episode) during the second to last episode was pretty amazing.

Yep, although my favorite was the one where they visit Diane's family in Boston. Holy shit.

First episode was lame but take an hour and do a few episodes at once. I haven't finished it but so far I like how they make a point to extend each episode into the next. It's a bit of a gimmick at this point, but it would be great if an animated show could break down the wall of the self-contained 23 minute self-contained episode. This show wants to set up jokes that take several episodes to pay off. Interested to see where this goes.

Man, that first episode was so shit that I turned the second off about halfway through. I really have a hard time imagining it could get tolerable. I'll have to try out the rest.
Unless they change their infrastructure, they're not ready for a punk show.

A has been star [who is a horse] of a popular 90's family sit-com in which he plays the father bangs the ex-child star, grown-up drug addicted version of the show's adopted daughter [who is a human]

on no fucking planet can this be crap.

I should add that this show can be really depressing. Also it has some heart, that it doesn't have in the first episodes, but it gets better and more interesting and hilarous.
i particulary like how they use the"antrophomorphization" (what) of the characters in lots of subtle jokes. it really works.
