I only have Nothing Important and haven't had a chance to dig any deeper, but I'm pretty sure this is my favourite song to be released this year. The unedited album version is even better.

Emphatically NOT CRAP.

Great on record, but absolutely sensational in the flesh. Some of his a capella stuff is just devastating.

An excellent human being, too.

Don't know the records at all yet but I still think this is someone people will be listening to in 30-40 years time. Lot of talent. NC.

He's also a gifted comedian. His on-stage "banter" is much more than that; it's an integral part of the act. I've seen him have whole audiences in fits of laughter before just absolutely destroying them with his voice and playing. A master of pathos/bathos.

The Vile Stuff is utterly heroic (brilliant video too). It's a thing of near genius: we've all had a school trip to Featherstone Castle or tried to get into that coconut with a Philips head screwdriver. I keep thinking about those carrot pennies steaming in the aftermath of the parsnip soup spillage.

I've been dimly aware of him for some time but Nothing Important really brought him home to me this year, will investigate live at first opportunity. NC.

I know Richard Dawson. He lives down the road. He is the only person i know personally who I think may be deserving of the G word.

I've had the pleasure of releasing some of Richard's music (as his drone alter-ego Eyeballs) in the deep and distant past. It was good, but I'm definitely glad he put that to one side to produce the music he does nowadays.

A true renaissance man. Salut!

p.s. check out the uber-doom band, Khuunt, that Richard plays guitar in too...

From what I can gather, he's supporting the Ex at Oto this Friday. It's tricky, cos they're playing two nights, but as far as I can see he's on the Fri.

(Very annoyed that) I can't go to this. I'm playing timpani at a Southwark Cathedral carol service, which is also cool, but not as badass. I think Tommy Alpha is going to both nights. It will be sick, enjoy.

RD: Emphatically NC. Agreed about the G word. He has 2 or 3 songs in his arsenal that never fail to make me cry when I watch him live.

It was a weak attempt at humor.. as in Richard Dawson the host from the old Family Feud. Not trying to downplay him or his music at all.

Just wait till we hear about the heartbreaking songs of American neo-folk troubadour Les Dennis.

This song has been killing me this week.
