She really is a great writer. I'm not really all the way on board with the Frost/Christman show, yet - I think they just to get a few more episodes in to sort out their production issues.

I've heard probably three minutes total of this podcast- two different excepts of them doing ridiculously horrible accents and not being funny. That combined with the fact that it's named after a house for making and selling drugs in an afflicted area has given me a distinct impression of these guys.

Am I wrong to hate it based on these two things alone? Is it worth my time to dig into this or is a handful of bros being insufferable?

I find it kind of bro-ish. Despite strident and important feminist commitments, it is three dudes holding court who are snide and smug and that's a thing. It'll never be my deal exactly, but I've been dipping in for a few weeks and I'm going to continue checking it out a bit.

Their driveby hits on "basement-dwelling" people and references to "hillbillies" are I think symptomatic of the show's political limitations, but I will continue to check it out, especially since I currently work as a union organizer, which in my case means a lot of hours on the highway driving between evening meetings with workers in small towns across Saskatchewan.

I've given it two stabs. It's doing nothing for me.

Their bits are uniformly terrible, just a clinic in unfunny. The death threats at the end are completely limp and uninteresting. They also tend to trash people based upon personal appearance. I'm cool with it being open season on someone for style/haircut/facial hair choices, but they take shots on features about which their targets can't do anything. That is weak shit.

They also give little space to their guests. FM Connor did a stupendous job of wedging himself in there and being an integral part of the conversation (didn't hurt that he's as "one of them" as one can be), but Elizabeth Bruenig and the Australian dude could barely get a word in. The show is very "insider"; if you don't live on Twitter, it isn't truly going to be for you.

However! When they talk straight politics--and their politics are very much for me--straight-up, with natural humor, it's a very good listen. Not Crap, but I wouldn't die for them, not a chance.

Just imagine how much better their show would be with an actual comedy writer working with them! I actually appreciate their ruthlessness, but I totally agree with your points here.

The politics and commentary really are what draws me to this show - it would totally fail If it were just a comedy podcast. Felix says some funny and off the wall shit, but his delivery needs a lot of work, and those skits aren't doing him any favors. I appreciate Will's role as a host/ straight man - that seems like a natural fit for him. Matt's easily my favorite.

There is heart in there, but a lot of what I've been hearing lately is like watching an amateur do stand up in front of a room full of his rowdy friends. They're swinging for the fences, but they're too green to know when to rein it in, and I don't think they're cognizant of what really works for them.

The episode this week has James Adomian. It's fucking unreal.

Lots of stuff made me laugh very much from this week's episode.

I almost drove off the road listening to the latest episode I was laughing so much. Have not laughed as much at any other episode (though the Woke Zoo Crew intro was pretty brilliant too).

I thought the "Cath Bash" episode was kind of a dud, but otherwise it's going strong.

I think one of the strengths of Chapo is their insistence that the motherfuckers they ridicule are absolutely not on the same page as the average joes many of them purport to help or represent. Really, who is ridiculed on this show that doesn't deserve it? The think tank liberals or the slimy ass conservatives?

15 minutes into the latest episode, with Jeremy Scahill. It's the best thing.

Might surprise you ardent lefties here, but I listen to their podcasts pretty often.

I'll say not crap with a few waffles, because I can only take their style in measured doses.

Today I said fuck it and joined the Grey Wolves.

Saw a dude I know who is a capital-L #ImWithHer Liberal post on someone else's thread on Faceplace about CTH and was like "This is really funny but I can't figure out what it's all about?!?!?!"

You're in for a ride, homie!

One kind of has to sift through the juvenile humor and needlessly offensive stuff (like some of the things that Erin Ryan says in that one podcast- neither funny, nor clever, nor intelligent.) to get to the gold- which is their off-the-cuff sort of critique of left-liberalism in America.

I'm certainly no prude, but using lots of profanity and sexual crudity for the sake of humor is cheap and LCD. That's their greatest liability. They could be at least as funny if they'd lay off that sort of stuff.
