Man, I am bummed that I didn't get tickets to tonight's show. Been too long since I've seen Shellac.

Shellac were great the other night in Chicago. This was my first time seeing them. Do they usually drag out 'The End of Radio' to where Todd is taking his drums off stage, and then Steve leaves, and Bob is the only one left playing the bass riff? I thought that was pretty cool.

I met Bob at the merch table and bought a shirt afterwards. Question: what does the OMO on the shirt stand for?

its been far too long since I have seen Shellac as well.

I am trying to think when it was. Could it have been in Worcester, MA with Kustomized? Shit that was, like 20 years ago!

I hope they play NYC or Philly this year.

LOMO, not OMO.

It looks like "OMO", admittedly, which means "homo" here in Italy...

Best Shellac show ever. Hadn't seen them since 2009 or so in LA with Arcwelder. They had a lot of moves and definitely explored the space. Their stage show has evolved quite a lot. Todd poked a hole in his kick drum. They played for an hour and a half. All the hits. All the sing a longs.

Thanks again guys, great show.

You'll all be shocked to know that after the show they sold out of XL tee shirts almost immediately.

Last night makes two out of two times that I've brought someone to see Shellac who'd never heard them before and that the person with me has staggered out of there afterwards clutching their head and moaning "Dude, incredible" (my paraphrase) and vowing to buy every Shellac record immediately. Ladies and gentlemen, the power of rock music. NC.

My dad came to see Shellac one time and he had a huge smile on his face the whole show and couldn't stop talking about how good they were for like a week.

There was a woman standing behind me who started raving to her friend about how blown away she was by Shellac. She said she had never heard anything like it and was just enthralled. This was shortly after a scorching opening volley of Canada, Copper, My Black Ass and the Squirrel Song.

Great show last night. It's been way too long since I've seen them, probably 10-15 years. The newest songs are all fantastic live. Really cemented how great Dude Incredible is for me. It was also nice to see a good sized crowd in the main room, all really into and supportive of Shellac and Mono. We had fun being music geeks in between sets, and it was great how easy it was to end up talking to the people around you.

Mono was way way better than I was expecting based on a bit of random research and listening I did before the show. I had a mishap with my keys getting locked in my car before the show, so we missed the beginning of Mono's set, but what we saw was pure audio bliss. I have a lot of respect for bands that can be dreamy and engaging at the same time.

Also met a couple of FMs for the first time at the show last night, which was nice, in spite of my general awkwardness.

The friend that I was with was the guy with the "Bob was a dick to me" question. He (not unlike many musicians, artists, and related nerds) tends to obsess over little things like that, so that goofy banter actually made him feel better about the original (non-)incident.

Fantastic. Very well-considered and interesting responses. It makes me wish FM steve had the time and/or inclination to write more long-form responses like that on the forum here...

The Shellac show I went to in Wellington earlier this year was one of the most male-dominated gigs I've been to. I went with five women - all record-buying fans of the band - and it felt like our group alone represented about half the women there. I have no idea why the gender split was so extreme.

Apparently this had the benefit of leaving the women's toilets empty, so ladies, go see Shellac if you want a clean toilet.

I noticed this too when I saw Godspeed You! Black Emperor back in February. Long line for the men's room, no line at all for the ladies.
