FM Bill Swansea took me to see them in when I visited Bristol; that one note pissed-off chant-rock makes quite an impression over the course of a set. They play to their strengths by releasing only singles and EPs, but I can still recall hooks from songs that have yet to be released and it's been more than a year.

"My mother works for 17 hours 7 days a week"

God that was a fun night.

Easy NC, Jake threatening the bass player over Mclusky only emboldens my vote.

Love the new record. This band makes me want to start a new band.

Haven't heard enough to vote yet, but that first video sounds exactly like a cross between Big Black and The Fall. Odd mix that works surprisingly well.

This band seems to keep getting better the more I listen to the Brutalism record.

saw them at OFF Festival, they demolished the place. insanely fun, and dude had some good recommendations for other acts to catch at the festival (hello Richard Dawson!). 100% NC

The video for MOTHER showed up just as my own Mom was making the last mortgage payments on my childhood home (33 years and two ruinous re-mortgages later). That, despite solo-raising two kids from two different deadbeats 15 years apart.

So yeah, I'm Team IDLES.

I was gonna make a crack about giving the ol' Texas Rattlesnake too much credit, but then:

I don't give a shit if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the goddamn world, that wants to be married, and if it's same-sex, more power to 'em.

Well shut my mouth.

They were fantastic in Glasgow in April. Proper 'I remember why I want to make music and play in a band again' awesome.

Art is supposed to be a language of freedom in expression that can be spoken by all and if you don't like what people are saying, move on. Don't shut them up. That would make you a prick.
'Stendhal Syndrome' is just a song reminding you of what a prick sounds like.

New album's effucking brilliant. Probably even better than the first one. Joe Talbot might be the best lyricist out there right now.

New record is good except the Solomon Burke cover. Now I will listen to the old one.

The singer sounds a LOT like the Sleaford Mods singer to my ears.

I really don't get this. Radio friendly faux rage. A load of old bollox.

Hey Colossus and Gnod have made far better records.

Gnod ain't made shit and I'm happy Idles have a couple hooks up their sleeves.

New one has some Alice Cooper moments to it. Guess the monolithic tracks are here to stay. Already have my ticket for their show in two weeks.

Something about the vocals and lyrics isn’t clicking for me.

I appreciate the 3rd voting option, because after one listen, this seems entirely unremarkable in every way. Actual noise-rock-by-the-numbers music.

I'll give it another shot, though.
