How many metal bands use international style / global sportswear branding / helvetica

TBH yup there is metal that corporate.

Possibly part of a larger genre "marketing metal"...

What? Examples wold help, otherwise your comment sounds like a very, very drunk music nerd that discovered communism recently, slurring some words out, of which only every third one can be understood.

A softer/more post-rock influenced subgenre of Microbrew metal and Beard balm metal is EPAL pallet furniture metal.

International style: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interna ... phic_Style

Compris? Graphic Designer terminology.

Particularly the nike twist on it informs a particular area of the metal aesthetic landscape: https://nike.brickworksoftware.com/asse ... iHoYIqTgMT

The nu-metal area was definitely and obviously sportswear-branded. There are some proper nike/adidas marketing department / product placement records out there from the mid '00s.

Of course, the people hired by major labels to design such record sleeves tended to listen to less tawdry stuff than HedPE while designing said album sleeves, but the full gamut of "marketing metal" is a terrifying genre, no doubt about it.

Same as advertising jingle drum'n'bass... it's not necessarily a well-known filing scheme or genre, but there are barrel-loads of the stuff out there.

I recall this differently.

The mainstream media and corporate elite HATED the popularity of nu-metal during the peak years for this stuff (99 to 2002ish). They weren’t above trying to make a buck off it, but they were totally embarrassed to be associated w/ working class anger music and abandoned the whole thing the second record sales dipped. Nu-metal was totally dead by the mid-noughties.

Those early bands (Korn, Limp, etc) were using the gangster rap pose of people like Ice Cube cuz that was a more relatable / accessible / adoptable kind of masculinity than the other alternatives for dudes driven to make aggressive art. (*) It was underclass alliance music – that’s why you had multiracial bands like Sevendust or Hed PE in the mix early on.

(*IMO, hardcore was in a lull by the mid-90s and Phil Anselmo, while providing an alternate business model, was way too rednecky for most… though many of the NWOAHM bands like Lamb of God and Hatebreed would use him as the template a few years later.)
