I'd vote for him, but this is going to be interesting.

Last time the ratfucking was "nothing personal." This time it's going to be a full-on blood feud.

Not crap at all, and I vastly preferred him as the nominee in 2016. If you want to know what Democrats (increasingly) believe in 2019, look up what Bernie believed in 1990. He has done heroic work shifting the direction of that party and of the electorate.

But he’s not my first choice for 2020. He will be 79 years old come Inauguration Day. And Warren’s wealth tax and child care proposals are brilliant, concrete policies that go beyond anything being proposed by anyone else (save for the Green New Deal). The BEZOS Act didn’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence in his policy sharpness.

Also, I’m voting for a woman.

Warren it is!

But if Bernie wins the nomination—and he could!—he will get my support and my donations.

I choked up a bit when I read it, not going to lie.

The most popular candidate in the leftmost lane.

It's already a big win just to have him in it again. Everybody's going to have to come further his way or define themselves against him (which is not really a winning proposition at the moment).

Good luck, old man, you are going to need it.

Please go hard as you can this time.

I have no idea how things will play out but he's still the best candidate.

I like Bernie's policies the best, but man, it seems like every other week he says some racist shit, and the age definitely gets to me. 79 at inauguration. 87 when he's done if he's in for two terms. What's the plan here? That he'll announce two years into the presidency that he won't run for re-election? At that point he'll have no chance of passing anything.

Yeah, I'm reading too far into it, but would love to hear what people think the plan here is.

Glad you started a new thread, FM llllllllllllllllllllllll, since this is a different ball of wax than the 2016 bid.

Notice how right out of the gate, on the news early this morning, Sanders declared Trump a liar, a racist, corrupt, and bad for the country, etc. Unlike the other candidates, he's not mincing words going into this. You're never gonna get this kind of backbone from a moderate (more of less centrist neoliberal) Dem afraid to step on anyone's toes or draw a line in the sand.

Sanders is one of the few people who can stand up to a bully whackjob like Trump over the long haul and put him in his place. And unlike Warren, he doesn't have an achilles heel, other than maybe his age. And unlike any of the other candidates, Sanders has run before, so he knows what it'll take going into this.

Gender and race should be immaterial here--we should be vying for the candidate most likely to beat the boogey man.

A 77 year-old running for president is fundamentally crap. Not that I wouldn't have him over the current cunt in a second, but the whole model is a fucking wreck.

“We have got to look at candidates, you know, not by the color of their skin, not by their sexual orientation or their gender and not by their age,” Sanders told Vermont Public Radio on Tuesday. “I mean, I think we have got to try to move us toward a nondiscriminatory society which looks at people based on their abilities, based on what they stand for.”

Did Bernie just "I don't see color" the electorate?

The last one I'm thinking of is that he said white voters aren't racist but were just uncomfortable voting for a black candidate. That was in November, but honestly I thought it was last month. I thought it was telling of how he views racism.

There were more, but trying to google it brings up stuff that was written in the last 5 hours.

He's not perfect (none of them is). He's old, but if I have my citizenship by then I will vote for him.

I know you're just making a bad faith reading of this but I'll respond as if you hadn't. He's talking about looking at a candidate's record and policies, as anyone should look at a candidate.

can't that be perceived as him saying "i really hope that black voters are smart enough to not just vote for Booker or Harris because they're black"

he felt it necessary to say that even though as you say, everyone should look at a candidate that way. so why say it?
