I think Stevie T pretty much said everything that needs to be said about Billie Eyelash. :P

NOT CRAP. A friend of mine worked a Girls Rock camp last summer and said so many of the campers were inspired by Billie to make music. See also: Lizzo. I think it's cool that her and her brother are working together. And that Bad Guy song is catchy as hell.

Whatever you think of her music she is the anti-teenybopper pop star. She wears bags for clothes. Her hair is two colors. It's anti-image and it's fucking awesome. She's smart enough and savvy enough not to bare her midrift and sell her teenage sexuality. She just sells her weirdness and her music. Her whole presentation and stage production is very creative. Her performance on snl last fall was awesome and weird. She and her brother recorded her first record in her bedroom. More of this please.

This. "Bad Guy" is pretty great!

So I watched her sing on the Grammys and I liked her music much better than a lot of stuff I heard on that show. NC.

Never heard her music, but there is a whole Billy Eilish section at H&M selling Billy Eilish merch.

I don't doubt it. What I meant was she is selling her weirdness and music without the assistance of her teenage sexuality. I didn't mean she was selling literally only her albums. I was talking about her image and how it's marketed.

On that subject I also read a comment from her about her image and sexuality when some website published a fake nude picture of her. She mentioned how downplaying her sex was intentional and that maybe when she was an adult she might choose to show off her body and sexuality but that for now, at 17, which she was when this happened, she didn't want to do that. It's all deliberate and for a 17-18 year old woman I think that's fantastic, world savvy, and wonderfully self aware. She's letting her music stand for itself without some sexy, Lolita, teeny bopper image.

I like 'Bad Guy', but that whole album of AMSR-type pop got on my nerves after a while. Still, I find her more interesting than most pop stars, and she seems pretty grounded (she still lives with her family in the same house). I'm curious to see what she does next. N/C
- "Whatever happened to that album?"
- "I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall, and it like, shattered."

Deeply jealous of her vocal control. A welcome change in the face of 25 years of bad blues-runs being mistaken for "great singing."
Kerouacian as fuck.

My eleven-year-old daughter is nuts about her, it's probably the first time she's struck out and discovered something on her own through casual exposure rather than friends (or me) trying to foist music on her. As such, we're awash with B.E. at the moment and from what I've heard think it's all pretty great. There's a massive amount of detail in the production, weird sonic fuckery and edits that are far, far better and more wigged-out than they need to be for an artist in this zone. Her output is super diverse by the standards of her contemporaries too.

Her voice is great, the presentation and aesthetics are refreshing and the lyrical content seems pretty idiosyncratic. The kid keeps feeding me Billie nuggets: "She loves Studio Ghibli!". She fits hand in glove with a certain demographic, judged against the morass of pop music in 2020 it's not hard to understand why she stands out and has blown up.

Same here - only difference is my daughter is 12. She's obsessed, and tells everyone she meets about BE, with varying results.

Add a poll, and I'll vote NC.

Hah, perfect description.

Some of the songs are good, like "bury a friend", but the huffing-out-every-word, barely enunciated singing is not my thing.

My 10 year old daughter is into her.

I gotta admit, I kinda like her too. Songs are interesting on a few levels.

There was a good couple months a few years back where we were listening to jojo siwa. That was some real bullshit.

So this is a welcome change. Duh.

FWIW, I asked my kids (13-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl) about her last night, and both dislike her music.

Not crap in the slightest as per reasons above. Also, she was an excellent sport on Hot Ones.
