haha, that's inconceivable. the closest they got to that was maybe the Brave New World cover -- i remember hanging on the official Maiden BB back then, and many fans freaked out that Eddie was just a bunch of evil clouds :)

i actually like this one (way better than the abomination on the previous album) but it's a bit weird that there's no background

There are not many bands which I can call CRAP. On the other hand some bands are real crap and Iron Maiden is for sure one of them. This music is empty and saying nothing to me...I never understood why it makes so many people excited because this band is bad in many ways sound, lyrics, style etc.

Well... it's hard rock made by nerds... it's no like you buy an Iron Maiden record waiting to connect with the singer like if you are buying a Townes Van Zandt record, you buy it to hear some dude sing in falsetto over some evil riffs about skulls, monsters and war. It's fun.

Like I said, I only like the first 6 records or so, then it got boring.

Explain myself? It's simple. That stupid cheeseball monster is stupid. Really fucking stupid.

KISS are my "heros" now? News to me. They dressed up stupid. I've never said "Look how cool they look!" But apparently you think that goofy monster thing is cool. Then you contradict yourself and talk about branding.

Aside from that, Iron Maiden makes tedious, pedestrian lite-metal for children. Just like KISS I suppose.

I started listening to heavier metal before I even thought to check out Iron Maiden, so when I finally did, I just wasn't moved in any conceivable way. Even then, I prefered Judas Priest, which is a band I always compared Iron Maiden to.

Not crap for their influence on Metal, but wf: because I don't really like 'em.

The Di'Anno stuff rules. Current favorites include the Purgatory single and the full Maiden Japan, just for sheer song selection. Curious how another album with him at the vocal helm would have sounded... or if he'd have had any of his voice left for it.

So, a 747-400 this time around..

And why the fuck not. Bruce just has to learn to fly one, it seems.

Strongly disagree....

If you strip this song down -

It wouldn't be all that different from this song -

Or any one of a few other Townes Van Zandt songs.

I enjoy Iron Maiden.
(Up through Seventh Son Of..)

My first purchase, on cassette, was Piece Of Mind.
I was ten.

I am in no way a nostalgic soul-
but I do like to hear that album when I'm in a funk.

It never fails to lift my spirits.

It's not meant to be Cale's "Fear".

It's galloping, epic, long-form tunage about Dune & shit.
Slightly silly...
Thoroughly energizing.

Besides, how many men creeping up on 60 do YOU know that can run several miles every night on stage whilst singing, get showered, then proceed to fly the entire 200 person operation to the next continent/show?

I can't get the twenty-year-old at work to pick up his fucking Burger King wrapper.
