I called Tom to congratulate him on the Green Bay article.

He said "Is this really you? Who is this?" Haw....

Have 2 tix to see TJL at Black Cat, DC tonight that I can't use. Planned to travel from New England to DC for the show but work and family issues have interfered. Show is sold out.

Tix have been offered to a local relative but if not accepted shortly, I'll open this up to the forum.

PM me if interested.

Apparently nobody is going to the Detroit show on Friday, as there are tons of tickets up on stubhub for $6/ea. Sucks that I spent $40/ea to get them during the presale, thinking they were going to sell out.

Same thing happened in Boston, I think scalpers bought up a huge block and then the demand wasn't there.

Same thing seems to be the case with the Atlanta show. I didn't get tickets before they sold out and then was able to get them for less than face on Stubhub. Fuck you, scalpers. Fuck you right in the ear.

Philly show was a blast, can't wait for Detroit on Friday. Looks like I might have to miss the Atlanta show as some work shit has come up, so if anyone needs tickets let me know. Not 100% certain I'll miss it yet but let me know and I may be able to get you tickets on the freesies.

Highlights:

ordered a pint of two hearted. Mid-pour "okay that'll be ten dollars". (Eyes pop out of head) "UH, WAIT". order a 12 dollar double of Makers instead

Get front center spot at the barricade.

Dear Rider are on complete fire as usual. Mostly lost on audience as far as I could tell.

Leave in between sets to relieve self. Get back to spot with ease.

    Jesus Lizard surpasses expectations.

Yow fucks with the security all night.

SO jumps on stage, gets booted from venue

    Yow pulls out cock

    Both sober for the home

St. Andrew's Hall security was insane. Is that just a Detroit thing or?

Took everything out of my pockets, that's fine. Then they went through everything in my hands. Dude took my little nicotine lozenge bottle, shined a flashlight on it, read through the label completely, opened it spilling a couple on the ground, smelled the inside of the bottle (what do narcotics smell like?). Asking me all sorts of shit. He pat me down, pinching parts of my pants, thorough. Completely missed the several large size capsules in my change pocket.

Show itself was great though. Wish we could've made it in time to see Dead Rider.

The Detroit gig was the only one I've been to where staff where on the floor literally yelling "OPEN THE PIT UP" and slamming into folks.

Great show - even SIMS looked like he was having fun up there. And they played "Lady Shoes", which I didn't hear any of the times I saw them in 2009. So rad.

Oh man, I would've loved to have heard that song when I saw them at Day For Night last year - I even shouted for it - because, as a piano player, I would've taken perverse joy in screaming a particular repeated line from that song.
- "Whatever happened to that album?"
- "I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall, and it like, shattered."

Ayyy, I was right behind you for part of the show!

I almost got booted when that fight broke out in the front row. Took the guy whose hat was thrown to vouch for me.

Detroit security is usually pretty harsh, yeah. But a few of those guys were definitely enjoying the madness.

It was a good time. I think Jeez Liz was better at The Metro last December, but that show was insane. And this one had more friends in the crowd - running into Garth in the pit made me smile.

Remember that picture you posted some years ago, I want to say you were in a hospital gown? I knew it was you based on having seen that picture maybe twice. You do not appear to have aged!

Just scored a second-row balcony seat for Austin this Saturday — $12 including fees (!!). I’d better not be sitting behind a column.

They were on fire last night -- setlist drew heavily from Head/Pure, Goat, and singles. Four (!) encores, including "Blockbuster" with a blotto Yow doing several impressive sets of pushups. I'm guessing his breath was flammable by that point. "If You Had Lips" into "Killer McHann" into "Chrome" into "Bloody Mary" YESSSSS.

Surprising # of empty seats in the balcony (where I managed to sneak up front) and mezzanine, so it was easy to get a much better view of the stage than you can from the floor, although I would've killed to be down there when Yow threw his mic into the crowd. I got my ticket late through StubHub for 12 bucks, but the person who bought it paid $32. Weird.

First time I'd seen so many full beer cups and cans lobbed at the stage in the Moody Theater, let alone as an act of love.

Yeah they were. Every bit as good as some of the best shows I saw them play 25 or so years ago. They were giving it their all. How Yow does what he does at 58, I have no idea. Maybe it's the push-ups.
