Oh man I wouldn't ever buy any Behringer in the first place.

If it's pre 80s Peavey, I think their stuff looks sort of cool now.

I take off the logos on cabs I like to set up vertically. It would otherwise bug me to see it on its 'side'.

As far as Peavey's ethics, it's not like most of us are supporting them by buying their modern gear anyway so it doesn't bother me. A $150 early '80s craigslist amp is not lining Tea Party pockets or whatever.

I like Peavey stuff just fine, this is what I'm playing lately:

Every one of those is a good sounding, good playing, sturdy, US made bass. They work great for me.

I wonder what the cabs are.

I would totally get that bananas-looking piece for 200 bucks. Good god, looks monstrous.

I believe you'll need a pre-amp though as I think it's under the category of "slave" amp. Throw a Rusty Box in front of it and you should be in good shape.

Picking it up for an interstate gear nerd mate tomorrow night. Will get to try it out before he collects it though, so I will report back. I've got a Rusty Box as well.

Yeah, who is buying a new Peavey amp?
I'll never understand 'Ok, there's a MUCH better version available for almost nothing that will last into my old age, and is a perfectly fine amp for anything I'd ever want to do, or I can pay triple that for a piece of shit with lightning bolts on it, only good for Nu Metal that will stop working within a year'

I have a Peavey PXD Twenty-Three that I love dearly. It looks stupid as fuck, but it sounds great for my purposes.

Not crap. Sturdy, well-made (referring primarily to the older stuff) amps that you can find easily in any city's CL listings for dirt cheap and sell back for about the same when you've had enough. The sound almost always leaves a bit to be desired, but chances are you're not using them as the centerpiece of a studio setup.

The early '80s Rockmaster amp (not the rack mounted preamp) is pretty fantastic and can be had for cheap. JCM800 sounding but with 6L6's.

Here's one relaxing outdoors after the landscapers have finished.

Didn't Thurston Moore play one of those for a while?

I think Kim played a Rockmaster, and Thursty had the big boy version of the amp: The Roadmaster, which has like 80 or 90 6L6s, so that it can be uselessly loud. The Rockmaster, by comparison is a scant 120 watts. Sheesh, why even plug it in?
