During a tour this spring at Tesla Inc.’s electric-car factory in Fremont, Calif., Elon Musk asked why the assembly line had stopped. Managers said automatic safety sensors halted the line whenever people got in the way.

Mr. Musk became angry, according to people familiar with what happened. His high-profile gamble on mass-producing electric cars had lagged behind since production began, and here was one more frustration. The billionaire entrepreneur began head-butting the front end of a car on the assembly line.

“I don’t see how this could hurt me,” he said of vehicles on the slow-speed line. “I want the cars to just keep moving.”

When a senior engineering manager involved with the system explained that it was a safety measure, Mr. Musk told him, “Get out!” Tesla said the manager was fired for other reasons.

Charlie Chaplin was lampooning "industrial leaders" like this in the mid 30s.

^This is rad. I've watched a few of this guy's other videos and they're weirdly engaging in a detached way that gives a hypnotic effect. His voice reminds me of Joe Pera.

Have subscribed to that dude's channel and managed to see the video right when it dropped. He (the Youtuber, not Musk) is on the money. It's a terrible, terrible idea. The opposite of pragmatic.

This is a good hatchet piece on this subject from a few weeks back, that delves into the absurdity of it:

Thanks for posting that, good shit...

His cadence reminds me a bit of the Mr. plinkett reviews from rlm too, something in the pauses and the editing I guess.

Capitalist super-genius is joining the "I need a haircut" freedom militias, calling for the liberation of states from lockdown. Perfectly in keeping with his view of wage-laborers, including those in his own factories, as subhuman cannon fodder for his profits.

I'm having a hard time reconciling these 2 things. If he was a true juggalo then he should heed ICP's mature stance on social distancing. I think he's a fake ninja

A guy I went through a coding bootcamp with had a mechanic-type position at one of Musk's companies (I don't remember which one). A few people around me were kinda star struck by that, "what's he like in person" etc. Me? This dude left his family behind, flew to Milwaukee from California in the middle of winter to essentially live in a dorm/SRO room and code for 12-15 hours a day. Yeah, super genius must've been real fun to work for.

I bumped the thread this morning without remembering that a friend has a brand new book out that is on topic. I haven't read it yet but James is an excellent researcher and writer and super smart. Dude loves trains, and why wouldn't you?
