Aw that’s with Nils. I guess Pancho is hanging it up at his farm in Hawaii. I saw this lineup a year or two ago and it was great. No complaints.

No problem with Nils over here.

As sad as I am that Poncho isn't in the band anymore...Nils is the only logical replacement. He was in the band before Poncho, if only for a second, so I suppose he's not just "the new guy" like Poncho was...heh. (See: Year of the Horse.)

Will go see them for sure if they're in my area...excited to hear what the record sounds like.

From the forthcoming Crazy Horse album:

Neil played this one solo during the encore when I saw him a few months ago, and I thought it was beautiful then. There's a little nod to 'Danger Bird' in the chorus. The full-band arrangement is spooky in a way that reminds me of some of the stuff on Sleeps With Angels.

Pretty excited about this record, and even more so about a possible tour. I totally missed the news about Poncho until now, though. Supposedly he's just "sitting this one out", although at this stage of the game that might well constitute a permanent departure. Anyone heard more details? I know he broke his hand on the last tour.

EDIT: IDK WTF is wrong w/ the YouTube URL, but it's not hard to find. Also, the recording generally and the drum sound specifically are terrific. (NO PONO)

Definitely has that old Lofgren Swagger.

Briggs was smiling as this one was recorded. It smolders.

If this is post Poncho Crazy Horse I will be a happy little doofus.

This is good. Guy is 73 hey. I also saw Neil and Crazy Horse a few months back but I don't think they played this.

Last weekend I was out at a rented cabin north of Winnipeg w friends and the Aurora Borealis were out across the lake the first night. I did my vocal impression of the opening lines of "Pocahontas" and apparently I do a good impression. Never knew. I hear that song and Neil's voice almost every time I see the northern lights. The Milky Way was also spectacular up there last Friday.

You got the better end of the deal. I saw him with Promise of the Real, who are...not Crazy Horse, let's just say. At one point I observed to my friend that Willie Nelson's kid is to Willie as Bob Dylan's kid is to Bob. Still always great to see Neil, though, and the acoustic opening set and that new one at the end were highlights.

Neil's music attaches itself to outdoor and wilderness experiences with an affinity like few others.

I'm going to see this...if only because Neil has a track record of not releasing films after they run in theaters.

Running for one night only, heh.

Edit: Anybody else catch this? I thought it was great, and will be a bummer if it never surfaces again. No idea how a casual fan or listener would feel, but so good if you love the Horse. Nils seems to fit perfectly, though I found myself wondering how drastically different the movie would have been with Poncho. I doubt Poncho would have been as open to filming as these dudes were.

Good shit. Really excited for the new album now.

New album is FANTASTIC.

Best one in a long, long time.

Astoundingly different than Psychedelic Pill.

I need to find a music store. I don't want to listen to clips until I can play it top to bottom.

I'm hoping the balance of it is more like 'Milky Way' and less like the one that sounds just like that George Harrison song.

There was a weird glitch on my apple music where it let me listen to the whole record earlier this week as long as I started with one of the two songs that wasn't greyed out. I think they're all up legitimately now, though.

Definitely some nice moments on there, the most Tonight's the Night sounding since TTN.

I think Psychedelic Pill was a better record overall, though I need to listen to this new one a few more times.

I've lost my elfin' mind and I'm writing about NY pretty much every day on FB. Wanted to blog about it but the blog interfaces were super clunky and dumb. So I'm just doing it there.

Up through Zuma now (I'd thought this would be a winter project, I guess, sorta sharpening a few chops for a book I'm writing for my job), and I'm so deep into this k-hole I can't distinguish up from down sometimes.

Listening chronologically, but then re-listening to things I just did, listening out of order, just binging all the way.

Binging on an artist who has made albums I've listened to more than anyone. This has been super enjoyable so far.

I wonder if this joy will be sustained when I get to FORK IN THE ROAD or LIVING WITH WAR.
