That's the one, yeah.
I guess the Red Wedding was bigger to some people, but I sort of lost interest by then.

The finale ruled. I was head-faked RIGHT up until the end.
Got a little mawkish for me with Peggy, but fucking a, she deserves a good life, damnit.

As pointed out in this New Yorker article, the era was rife with airplane hijackings so maybe he'll get hijacked by some crazy guy with a vile of acid?

I totally missed a lot of the foreshadowing about Don Draper's ending. Didn't even pick up on most of it until reading that article, to be honest. So good.

I'm glad the show had an ending this brilliant. Feels like there's a vacuum in quality TV now. Anyone have any recommendations, or promising-looking upcoming stuff?

I dug it. Man it hits hard, this show. The inextricable mingling of product and existential struggle, of business and and truth. Perfect last beat. If you can at all manage, make millions like Don before going awol. I missed that step.

I liked the show. I watched most of it at will, long after they aired which makes it easier.

At the end, were they implying that he was going to go back and write that Coke commercial?

Don Draper: recidivist with alcohol, women, and advertising. Has the honest moments up to the brink, then slips through the escape hatch.

Well, kinda with a wink. If he did or didn't, I think the Coke moment beautifully captured the mingling of cynicism and existentialism that characterize the entire show, the beauty of insight and the move to bottle and sell it. But, Don doesn't seem to break cycles too well. For him to have one half without the other is optimistic.

Emily Nussbaum had some great insight into the finale... especially the Coke foreshadowing that dotted the episode, which I more or less completely missed. Don's character getting advertising insight from a cathartic experience like that is a perfect wrap of the series. And Brett Gelman making a surprise (naked) cameo was gold.

spoiler - I caught it when the guy said "Can you fix my Coke machine? I like the old one's better", and then I remembered someone at a meeting asking Don "Don't you want Coke?" before that. I had the feeling there would be an awesome Coke Commercial soon...
I wish they would have taken the Two Lane Blacktop hot rod thing a little further, oh well...The Peggy love thing was the only part that felt tacked-on, but so what, I was rooting for her. I bought the whole DVD series for my wife's birthday, she's psyched...

I've been watching through for the first time on Netflix and this resonated, not exactly sure why.

It was a fine ending, but I'm still irked they didn't go down this road.

Just watched the whole thing over the course of the last three weeks, finished it today. It was far more interesting and ambiguous than I expected (I'd never watched it before, not even in passing). I particularly loved without reservations the weirder episodes, The Crash was an awesome one.
